I have been working at Spirit Mountain Casino part-time

    Pros

The buffet the people are really nice great training and they provide you with a lot in the beginning if your full time it's great

    Cons

If your part time you don't get all the benefits and if your offered one job in the beginning before starting and you accept and they call u again for a better job your not able to apply you have to wait 6 months kinda of scary waiting for the gaming commissions license cause it's a long process and not sure if in a month or two you'll have it or not if you don't qualify you don't have a job

    Advice to Management

Do the gaming commissions license before hiring full on so you know if you have you employee or not..

I have been working at Spirit Mountain Casino full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, decent pay once you get away from entry level (or get into a high-tipping position), layoffs are virtually unheard of.

    Cons

It's a Tribal casino. People smoke, drink, and gamble. Some of them complain. Their tribal preference put anyone who is non-tribal at a dramatic disadvantage. Middle of nowhere so you'll either have to live in the sticks or commute.

    Advice to Management

Ease up tribal preference and pay more. You keep comparing wages to Salem and forgetting how much it costs to commute.

I worked at Spirit Mountain Casino full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

93 acre facility is like a small city. Never a shortage of projects!

    Cons

Tribal policies & politics significantly impact business decisions and always to the business' detriment.

    Advice to Management

Get tribal council members off the board. Guaranteed tribal seats are fine, but allowing councilmembers on the board is fox in the henhouse and destroys managements ability to make you money.

    Pros

Lively atmosphere. 401K Paid Time Off. Good Insurance. Great coworkers. It really depends on the department in which you work. I worked in the restaurant and did great!

    Cons

Casinos busiest times are in the holidays, So if having time off during the holidays is important to you, work elsewhere. They are extremely anti-union. We even had to watch a training warning of the evils of unions. Not super fair about tenure and taxation on tips.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees that are on the main floor before making big changes. Understanding what goes on in the trenches will give you valuable insight.

I worked at Spirit Mountain Casino full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Floor Officers were mostly a good crew.

    Cons

Administration cares little for how bad they screw over their employees. Your attempts to advance (few and far between at the best of times) will be met with any number of reasons to hold you back.

    Advice to Management

Stop screwing over the frontline staff. You chase off every decent employee because you refuse to pay people what their worth and then plough them under when they get tired of being walked all over. The fact that you've been through half a dozen CEOs in 7 years should tell you something about the state of your management.

    Pros

Guest Services, I'm a people person and I enjoy working with the public

    Cons

Many different adittudes with guest and co-workers. mostly guest because they would lose their money and get very angry and then take it out on the employees
