I have been working at Sport Clips full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Work as a team, great environment, supportive, clients are always great too.

    Cons

Wish they would schedule out breaks for us so we can step away without issues, especially if we are full timers. Working with smokers is frustrating.

    Advice to Management

Figure out a way to schedule breaks and put limits on smoke breaks for cigarette smokers. It's frustrating not being a smoker abd feeling stressed because we don't get as many little breaks as them.

I worked at Sport Clips full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    -Busy locations.
    -Growth Potentials.
    - Very clean workplace.
    - Athletic Uniforms somewhat comfortable.
    - Family like atmosphere.

    Cons

    - Micromanaging, To many “assistant managers, key holders, and senior stylists.” Makes consistenty on policies difficult to adhere to on a daily basis, depending on who you work with.
    - Pay start at $10, plus tips, tips left on cards get put on your paycheck’s so your tips get taxed out.
    - Trainng was pretty much a joke, I never got to learn how to run the computer I had to teach myself or constantly ask other stylist to help me that’s basically how I learned, all that was really cared about was the MVP and how fast you could cut somebody’s hair and get them out the door. I have been doing hair for almost 12 years so when my “selective manager” sat me down to talk about my numbers and goals I was told that all the company and the higher-ups just look at numbers, and I’m just a number to them and I could be terminated if I couldn’t up my cutting speed time.
-That is when work started to become negative, It made it nerve racking when
“selective managers” worked putting to much pressure on every haircut constantly looking at the computer for speeds.
    -Inconsistent breaks and schedules.
-Short staffed so waiting time made clients upset then had to push to do MVPs after they waited an hour or more only irritated them more.
    - Bonusing is ridiculous and rare even with great product sales, back bar upgrades, if your cutting time is below there expectations you will NEVER bonus!

    Advice to Management

Communication is key right? Maybe GroupMe is NOT the best way to communicate with your employees!
I really did like working here and wanted to strive to be an assistant manager in the long run it’s just hard to communicate with so much inconsistency !

I have been working at Sport Clips full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Meeting people
    Good tips
    Clean environment
    Tech support

    Cons

    No training for manager unprofessional.
    Unfair treatment ,feel like racism!
    Corporate don't care about that
    Lots of pressure for numbers
No yearly raise or motivational hourly increase.
    Manager don't motivate employees.
    Manager have control issues.
    Imposible to build clientele.
Corporate don't have a number to handle this issues.

    Advice to Management

Managers are human just like everyone else but if the don't have training they chase employees away .manager base her employee opinion on personal mood or vibe not in employee perfomance like it should be. Owner listen to manager and dontset her straight talk in the phone almost the whole day and she dont take clients even if it's busy

I worked at Sport Clips full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The concept is awesome! The prices and products are at the correct price point to make money. Training and uniforms provided.

    Cons

The Manager at Sports Clips, Olive Branch managed by intimidation, control and would make other employees fill uneasy when she was present. The owner lives in Georgia and definitely has given the management free reign and does not ask why it's so difficult to keep employees. Many clients would remark there's all different every time I come in.

    Advice to Management

Sports Clips is awesome! I love everything from the concept, stations, and training. I don't know if you have mystery shoppers but the Olive Branch, Mississippi store has continually gone down in sales even when there is twice as much traffic than there was two years ago. The store is filthy. I don't think the air ducts, corners or shelves have been dusted/vacuumed since they opened.

I worked at Sport Clips part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Higher hourly wage than competitors (at the time). That's about it.
ONE salon manager (of the 6 I experienced at my location) was absolutely a phenomenal human being. The rest were too young OR too egotistical to be efficiently managing a salon.

    Cons

Absolutely stupid uniform requirements (constantly mistaken for foot locker employee) no wage raises due to incentives and incentives very difficult to reach. Expect to work for hourly+ tips. Heavy emphasis on "5 point play" which feels oppressive, embarrassing and unnatural. Expect to be told you'll get rotating weekends off but never actually get this due to staffing problems.

    Advice to Management

Stop fostering heavy competition with staff and you may have more staff retention. There is a common attitude amongst franchise owners that stylists are uneducated, silly little girls. This is no way to view and treat the people who make your money for you.
