- Current Employee, less than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
Flexible hours, and managers are willing to accommodate your schedule if you communicate with them properly and work part-time. The staff break room is also well-stocked with food so you don't need to worry about going hungry at work! Race registration and product discounts are also a big bonus. Everyone is really friendly and willing to help if you have questions.
Cons
Depending on the store location and day of the week, customer traffic can be pretty heavy and sometimes you'll be asked to cover multiple areas of the store without having much experience or knowledge. Sometimes the store is pretty understaffed.

Over promise under deliver
Sep 19, 2022 - Team Member in Santa Rosa, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Hefty employee discount (40% off) The breakroom is mostly well stocked Some of the coworkers are pretty chill Relatively easy to get time off
Cons
Absolute lack of leadership, management is never on the same page and often only doing what's best for themselves. Wages are a joke, performance reviews have little effect on your odds of getting a raise. One manager repeatedly said "you don't work here to get rich" at a storewide meeting about moral. Instead of doing anything to address employee moral they'll have pizza parties.

Pros
I've been at this company for well over a decade - this company cares about doing right by it's customers, they trust their staff to make good choices, they try to be transparent and positive as much as they can. They are open minded and flexible, and encourage their staff to go on vacation and take advantage of their benefits (free food, free rentals, great discounts, etc).
Cons
Pay is on the lower end of the spectrum for the Bay Area.
- Current Employee, more than 1 year★★★★★
Great Culture and Fun Job
Aug 29, 2022 - Store Manager in Campbell, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The opportunity to be able to connect with members of the community and help them with there sporting good equipment is a lot of fun. Being an expert for those who are looking to be active can be easy, if you are active yourself. Great benefits like food, discount, healthcare, and activity reimbursement.
Cons
The only real downside is on occasion you have very unreasonable people, but that is few and far between. Most people are friendly. It's hard to make a career out of the pay.
- Former Employee, more than 1 year★★★★★
Good coworkers, poor management and even worse pay
Sep 18, 2022 - Agent Customer Service Representative in San Francisco, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Coworkers are great people, most of the time. Free break room food.
Cons
Poor pay and even worse management. Management/corporate change operating procedures every two seconds. Some call that adaptability and others more accurately call it incompetence. Favoritism regarding promotions.

What was a fun and well-paying job became tedious as the company grew and didn't pay attention to its employees.
Aug 22, 2022 - Store ManagerRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Good people work the floor - Food program was great, you didn't have to buy or bring lunch if you didn't want to - 40% off discount goes a long way
Cons
- They promise raises and growth for long time employees then renege - They do not invest time in employees. I saw staffers who were stellar for 6 months, but the second they have a bad week management wants to talk about termination. - During early covid they let go of a ton of their staff due to "budget issues" and wanting to keep "only the best" and the next week announced the second most senior person in the whole company (Aaron Schweifler) got a title bump. I can only assume he got a pay bump with that.
