I have been working at Sports Direct part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Meet new people, can choose your own hours, 20% discounts!.
The other staff here are very friendly and understanding, helpful if I don't know something.
Managers bought us cakes after a particularly busy day!

    Cons

Back to school and Christmas times are very busy and stressful and busy!
Been doing the same job/task(s) for >1 year, getting bored now, only thing making it noticeably interesting is the variations of customers. We use radios to talk and often there aren't enough and people get into a queue to call the shoes which causes irritation with some customers.

    Advice to Management

Make sure all packaging is in decent condition as its often unusable and falls apart. I've had many complaints about this. Some sort of new system for calling the shoes is required, the radios are somewhat inefficient.

I worked at Sports Direct part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Friendly, helpful colleagues who are easy to get along with
    - Get the odd occasional perfect customer
    - Weekend shifts to suit student, easy to get time off

    Cons

    - Management is poor, could do with being more friendly to employees
    - Very low pay, especially as I was getting the train every day to get in and my train fares were nearly as much as I was earning in a shift
    - Constantly pushing KPIs down your throat and threatening you if you don't sell enough even if you're trying your best

    Advice to Management

Be more friendly to employees and treat them as equal.

    Pros

Company offers a good 5 star incentives/commission scheme for employees to earn extra money on top of their salary.

    Cons

Lack of help in induction. When i started i was thrown into to the deep end and straight onto tills when i had made it clear i had never worked a till. All i got told was how to scan items and take money but several other problems arose for which there was a lack of help and management just wanted me to know even though the system was completely new to me. Plus i was left on my own for 90% of my shift with no one in sight no other employee or management.

    Advice to Management

Give more training in the first few shifts to staff and get their feedback on what they g=have learnt or feel they need more improvement on to help staff work better.
