I have been working at Sports Direct part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Availability can be selected by the hour over 7 days a week
Pay is just over NMW depending on age, as you'd expect with this type of job, however commission is also possible
    Colleagues are a good laugh

    Cons

0 hour contract- Can work for students, but not a reliable source of income
KPIs can be quite pushy. Well, more than quite.
Only real progression is to go full time or supervisor
Customers can be a pain, but hey, that's retail folks

    Advice to Management

Less pushy with the KPIs, if people don't wanna buy 'add ons', they won't.
A standard rate of pay for all ages should be implemented. Why should I be paid less than someone older for doing the same job?

I worked at Sports Direct (Less than a year)

    Pros

The members of staff who worked their were a laugh and people all chipped in together. Flexible working hours

    Cons

The management always seemed to have a chip on their shoulder, they would expect the world but give nothing in return. Minimum wage and wasn't always guaranteed hours. Working with KPI's became a pain

    Pros

Most of the other staff are the same age as me (17-18) so its really easy to get along with them.

    Cons

Air con has been broken has been broken for months all staff has complained and management has done nothing but buy a fan for the till the store gets extremely hot and I doubt customers want to be greeted by staff who have sweat dripping down their face .

short and unexpected break theres no structure to take a break someone from management will randomly tell you to go on a break and some staff get longers than others even though we cover the same shift

there uniform only comes in certain sizes so as someone whos on the bigger side it was very hard to find uniform that fit nicely managment should take your sizes and order in the uniform accordingly

ive only been working at SD for 4 days now and on my first day they expected me to hang up 6 rails of new clothes in the store i wasnt shown where everything is and it took me a long time to complete the task because of that adding on tho this management gives you one section of the store to shut down i always get the whole middle section by my elf and i always ask someone for help but they have there own section do to and i am always working overtime simply because i am unable to shut down the section fully by myself

    Advice to Management

    Listen to staff complaints
    create a lunch timetable

I worked at Sports Direct part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The hours are quite flexible which is good if you are a student who is working on a 0 hours contract.

    Cons

    Management treat you bad.
Far too much pressure on KPIs.
Management would hide in stock rooms behind tills to make sure you were selling a bag for life, magazine and make up product to every customer.
    No respect shown for employees.
Mystery shops were almost weekly at times.
    Understaffed.
Far too much work for people to do.
    Management were lazy.
Had to radio every single item sold at till points.
Not recognised if you do anything good unless its selling KPIs and even then little recognition is shown.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with respect and stop putting so much pressure on KPIs

I worked at Sports Direct part-time

    Pros

    Employee discount 15%
Aside from that there are not other benefits for working for them

    Cons

    the pay is low
    hours are terrible hours
zero hour contract means that they can take of shifts of you refuse to a random shift they assigned to with at anytime even if its an hours notice
The is next to no training

    Advice to Management

Bags for life are not an effective way of giving commission and formal training would go a long way
