    Pros

Very collaborative. Good energy. Great food. Fun outings paid for by the company. Very good place to learn a lot. They have very talented people there.

    Cons

There aren't any negatives for this firm.

    Advice to Management

Overall, the management team was very strong. They had a lot expertise. I would be very clear what you would like an employee to build and how the person can evolve with the company 1, 5, 10 years in. That way you can keep top talent! Great job though you have made an excellent business.

I worked at Spot Trading full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Extremely entertaining place to work, I was excited to go to work almost everyday. The software they build is really impressive. Middle management is professional and treats people well. Great implementation of agile.

    Cons

Software your building doesn't have much impact beyond Spot, only like 50 people use it. Trader centrist management doesn't have good handle on directing engineering . Not as fun in rough times when your not making money. Too many failed projects. Work space is decent, but feels cramped.

    Advice to Management

Do a better job aligning technology with strategy.

    Pros

Catered breakfast and lunch, working with smart & talented coworkers.

    Cons

If you want to enjoy a work-life balance don't apply. They will make you work overtime on a regular basis! IT is always short-staffed! No breaks! Too much stress put on employees from the management level. Compensation not that great. In general, employees don't stay here long.

I worked at Spot Trading full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Free food is great. You don't have to work that hard if you're good. You'll have lots of free time because management, all the way from the C-level to team mangers are bad at the new direction they're trying to take the firm in.

    Cons

The firm is trying to go from a traditional trading firm culture to one that is more technologically oriented. They are not doing well in this regard because they don't get a lot of talent, and the talent they do get, they misuse.

    Advice to Management

Do what you know you can do well. Don't try to compete with firms/people far more competent/experienced than you in the high frequency/algo trading space.

    Pros

Nothing is a pro here. They say they win awards for employee recognition and best place to work but they pay those people off in order to claim they are a 'great' employer.

    Cons

Everything, culture sucks. Please if you are considering an internship or full-time position go elsewhere. This environment is toxic and you will hate what you do every day.
