    Pros

Very collaborative. Good energy. Great food. Fun outings paid for by the company. Very good place to learn a lot. They have very talented people there.

    Cons

There aren't any negatives for this firm.

    Advice to Management

Overall, the management team was very strong. They had a lot expertise. I would be very clear what you would like an employee to build and how the person can evolve with the company 1, 5, 10 years in. That way you can keep top talent! Great job though you have made an excellent business.

I worked at Spot Trading full-time

    Pros

    Breakfast and lunch provided daily.
Work is fairly straightforward with some opportunity to work on things that interest you within the goals of your group
    Everyone is pretty friendly

    Cons

Upper management is not sure what direction they want to go. The result is a myriad of half completed projects.
Forced to select all vacation days a year in advance with little to no opportunity to change them. Also not allowed to take days off when other team members are off.
horrible work life balance. Company expects you to be available all hours including nights and weekends after working a 40 hours or more in the office.

    Advice to Management

AGILE only works when there is a clear direction and more time is given to go back to the project during the next rotation. Releasing just to release causes more issues than it fixes.

I worked at Spot Trading full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great people, lots of smart people with interesting ideas. One of the only places I've worked at where they truly will let you broaden your skill set and change groups/learn new skills if it fits into the goals for the business. Free breakfast/lunch is a great perk and some really nice benefits. Lots of opportunity to learn new technology. Fun place to work at.

    Cons

Comp is not as good as other firms in the same industry. Rough markets and unclear business strategy have been hard on the firm. Career growth is limited and career direction is entirely self directed. It feels like technology and trading aren't on the same page and therefore the direction for technology is not clear.

    Advice to Management

Figure out what your business strategy is and then try to align your technology with it. Make sure your team leads actually understand business priorities otherwise it doesn't filter down to your people.

I worked at Spot Trading full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Extremely entertaining place to work, I was excited to go to work almost everyday. The software they build is really impressive. Middle management is professional and treats people well. Great implementation of agile.

    Cons

Software your building doesn't have much impact beyond Spot, only like 50 people use it. Trader centrist management doesn't have good handle on directing engineering . Not as fun in rough times when your not making money. Too many failed projects. Work space is decent, but feels cramped.

    Advice to Management

Do a better job aligning technology with strategy.
