I worked at SpotCo full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Creative geniuses, fun office culture, great location, free food. One of the best places I've ever worked.

    Cons

Not very good at managing client expectations, chaotic and disorganized at times, no work-life balance (you're basically expected to be working 24/7)

    Advice to Management

I've worked with both Shelby and Stephen, but never under them, and I know they are great at what they do. So, this is just generic advice aimed at nobody in particular: listen to employees, hire good people, manage clients, make money, all will be good.

    Cons

Very difficult to manage the various agendas among departments and egos that far too often lead the conversations with clients and execution of projects

    Pros

    -Theatre Tickets
    -Co-workers who have common interest
-Variety of work in your day - fast paced environment so it does not get too boring
    -Nice people (to your face)

    Cons

-Lack of review system for employees
    -Lack of growth track
    -Lack of support (understaffed)
    -Lack of training
    -Low compensation
    -ZERO transparency
-People get let go with no warning
    -Scared of losing clients
-Agency does not know how to train their clients - can be chaos

    Advice to Management

Shelby and Santore are actually the saving hope of this agency I think.

HR is a whole team of 1 so hard to believe there are any checks and balances happening.

I worked at SpotCo full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Sadly there aren't many pros to working at Spotco anymore. It used to be this great company full of vision and creativity, but it's bubbling down to a place that only cares about numbers; so much so that they're constantly doing big layoffs. Every month they have been laying off groups of people. Either that, or many are leaving in fear that they are at risk too. Spotco has turned into a hungry and moody money machine, and leaving ALL employees in fear.

    Cons

    Too many to list.
While they continue to search for their identity and issue layoffs, avoid applying there. If they continue the route that they're going, there won't be a Spotco within a few short years.

    Some key cons:
    - No room for growth
    - No proper leadership in place
    - Cliquish
    - Consistent layoffs and turnover rate

    Advice to Management

    - Meet the legal requirements and pay your employees what they should be paid
    - Come up with new layoff tactics. It's becoming a culture of gossip and wondering when the next layoff will be
    - Find your identity... quick!
    - Start placing real industry leaders in place, rather than choosing leaders from your internal girls/boys club
    - 99% of your current employees are miserable and you need to discover better ways to cater to that and ensure their success at your company.

    Pros

This company has a tremendous history of creative work. Beautiful open plan office with fun perks like snacks and birthday celebrations. There are some genuinely fun and passionate people.

    Cons

Quite cliquish depending on the department you’re in. Much of the Senior Staff is home grown within the company, which leads to major blind spots when lower level staff members have problems. You’ll have a hard time finding someone you can fully trust with voicing issues. The rumor mill is exhausting.

    Advice to Management

Have a trustworthy place for lower level staff to voice their thoughts. Consider that there’s a fine line between fostering internal growth and just promoting your own because it’s easier. Figure out what needs to be changed as a result of the layoffs - it’s probably not just dollar figures.

I worked at SpotCo full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Generous on snacks, young and vibrant staff. A will from management to have a foster a community.

    Cons

Too many unqualified people get elevated and promoted as they tend to be yes sayers, creating the obvious lack of critical outspoken counter weight. More and more decision by committee.

    Advice to Management

Take a long view of where you want to be in 2 years, make the hard choice of how to get there and make the restructure to be that agency.
Stop promoting internally when nobody is qualified, and hire real talent of those specific positions.
Lastly, learn what a mission statement is.
