I have been working at Spring Independent School District full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -Salary above 50k
    -Benefits
-Time off around holidays and summers

    Cons

-Poor organization that does not communicate expectations clearly
    -District does not support campuses
-Poor professional development compared to other districts for newer teachers
-Discipline is not handled well by the district and though my principal has tried several avenues and solutions to combat this, they are still met with resistance from administration when it comes to implementing these solutions.

    Advice to Management

Support your campuses' initiatives for discipline management. That would at least be a start.

    Pros

Like most teaching jobs, the teachers in general are good people.

    Cons

However the teachers are pretty upset over the whole grade thing that happened last year, and that is the only thing on the admins minds.

    Advice to Management

    Actually be a school

I have been working at Spring Independent School District as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

The opportunity exists to get experience as there are many job openings.

    Cons

The district is in a stage of transition, without a clear path. The support mechanisms are not in place to convey information, get paper towels and other basic supplies, and the clientele are very challenging.

    Advice to Management

Plan to win! Frustrated employees can not perform the important mission of developing learners when the instructional staff does not know if they can execute the planned lessons more than two days in advance.
