I worked at Springfield Grocer Company full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Management is seemingly driver friendly( Randy's the best, he never yelled at guys and was pretty down to earth). Pretty easy to work with if you want a day off. which was nice.

      Cons

Management is in strife with each other, they pretend to be family friendly company(it's all talk and a cover up for who they really are), owner is Christian guy but runs his company like hell. Wish they would just go out of business or completely reform the company atmosphere/attitude. Route's are up and down. Loooong days, short days, random weeks, slow weeks, unless you have a set route(that's nearly impossible to...

      Advice to Management

Have one person to be a fill in driver and stop calling people in on there day offs unless they want to work( the pay isn't worth a 2 the in morning random phone call). Raise the pay and stop giving out random routes.

I worked at Springfield Grocer Company full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Pay is ok but not great. Guys start out making almost $40K a year, working 50+ hours a week. Pay is hourly so you got to put in lots of hours to make more.

      Cons

You do have to work every Saturdays for the first year. If you need to have a day off for child's surgery or whatever the bosses will make it rough on you and give you the crappiest route no one wants. Then they wil keep you on call on your days off to P you off. When I was hired a almost 3 years ago I was told this was a family company and you know I never met the owner once. They do not care about you having a family...

      Advice to Management

Raise the pay. Stop getting even when guys need a change in their schedules.

      Pros

You make $17.75 an hour no matter if long time driver or new. Dental insurance is good.

      Cons

You have to work every Saturday the first 9 to 14 months you work here. You unload the entire semi trailer by yourself. You usually start work at 2 to 4 a.m. Long, hard hours and the deductible for the insurance is $7500 and you have to use Cox doctors to be in network. They have no optical (eye dr) insurance. You have to take one week vacation after your one year is up before the end of that calendar year is up...example:...

      Advice to Management

Raise hourly pay and drivers will stay. Overnight trips should pay more. .I liked my bosses but, they need to listen to drivers about preferences in their schedule and when they need to get off. If they need a short route on a certain day ...work around that. Do not send these guys out on a 14 hour day right after they just got back the evening before on an 38 hour (that's how long you are gone) overnight run. This will...
