I worked at Springfield Public Schools (Missouri) full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good benefits and a decent salary, summers off, some caring people

    Cons

When i had a problem with my principal, no matter how hard I tried to be respectful and bend over backwards, doing extra things that no one else did to try to please her, I appealed to the Special Education department, and they promised to help. They did nothing to help, and the situation get so bead that I had no other choice but to resign after 18 years of teaching. There was also a lot of pressure to do things perfectly that many teachers had a hard time with. They do not have teachers backs even though they beg for special education teachers.

    Advice to Management

Support your teachers and back them up when they are being unjustly treated.

I worked at Springfield Public Schools (Missouri) full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The students and the parents. Loved all my students and their families. Sweet students who I truly loved and enjoyed working with.

    Cons

Worst district ever. All administration cares about is themselves and money. All the big wigs are having affairs with each other. Disgusting place to work.

    Advice to Management

Act like you care about your teachers. They are the ones doing all the work, while you guys sit around and gossip in your new, renovated offices at Kraft.

I have been working at Springfield Public Schools (Missouri) full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Learned a lot about electrical, and security work. Also got to attend school full time which was a big plus.

    Cons

With any School District there is change, and with change comes frustration. Too much power in the wrong hangs even at the supervisor level.
