    Pros

An nice view of LAX and the freeway/ ocean. I can vouch that some people are good at what they do. The best of the best is here.

    Cons

Most people don't know what they're doing here. I'm sure they got hired because of the referral process. Many employees are friends and/or family members. If you're not friends with the upper management say goodbye to your hours. From Full-time to Part-time in less than two weeks. My coworker has been at an entry level for 4 years. The pay is also very low for a SR xxxxxxx position but it's time to look else where.

    Advice to Management

Treat referrals just as well as you would anyone else you are about to hire. Square Enix makes AMAZING money from what we dispatch. A decent pay would be nice.

I have been working at Square Enix UK as a contractor

    Pros

    -Working with other gamers.
    -Casual dress.

    Cons

    - Very low pay for what is a pretty mentally demanding job.

-Ridiculousl time management restrictions like clocking out for break, only getting 10 minutes per week away from desk time to use the restroom while not on your break.

    - Low worker morale due to low pay and high turnover.

    - As a contract employee, you are seen as totally expendable and receive no benefits other than the minimum required under obamacare.

    - Management promotes who they like, not who works hardest or has the highest quality work.

-Square Enix is so cheap they have a very successful AAA game being run by a small handful of actual Square Employees (Who also make very little money) with little to no management or work experience managing a ton of contract workers who get no benefits and are paid peanuts.

-The actual Square Enix employees that have been there for years are lazy, complacent, and rigidly close minded when it comes to new policies.

There is no development done at all at the El Segundo, CA office. This is the last place you would want to work if you hoped to get into the Gaming industry.

    Advice to Management

Square Enix drop Eastridge Workforce Solutions and hire all of your North American staff as true Square employees with regular benefits such as paid time off, sick leave, etc. Shame on you for not providing your employees with a living wage and benefits.

I have been working at Square Enix UK as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

For trying to break into the video game industry, you couldn't find a better place to do QA Testing than Square Enix. The environment was well lit and kept cool (sometimes a little too cool) and you're constantly surrounded by SE merch. Getting to talk with your coworkers is easy and encouraged, and everyone there is very helpful and super friendly. Food was brought in and shared at LEAST once a week.

    Cons

The turnaround is pretty fast. People come and go and moving up is (I hear) very hard. I've also heard that some pretty major changes happened to the QA dept after I moved on. I hope the environment is still as great as it was when I was there.

    Advice to Management

    Please keep being so cool.

    Pros

Good benefits. Company is stable. You will learn a ton either by being taught but mostly by just doing it.

    Cons

Very slow to promote. Low compensation and can be long hours (if you let it).

    Advice to Management

Fair compensation that meets industry standards.

    Awesome people to work with.

    Cons

Far travel (for me), and pay and advancement opportunities are very limited.

    Advice to Management

Stop doing contract and hire full-time people more often.

I have been working at Square Enix UK full-time

    Pros

    Interesting environment
    Great people to work with
    Very good benefits available
    Some potential opportunities to grow.
Influential company in the industry which serves as a nice stepping stone for a career in gaming

    Cons

Japanese influence ever present, creating massive dysfunctions in management and work process.
Some people being there for ages can block progression for younger and more ambitious employees (in some departments).

    Advice to Management

More introspection into senior management and their non added value to teams and department.
More opportunities of internal promotions and reassignment of valuable employees.
