    Pros

    Everything is awesome at Square!

    Cons

Only downside was the commute, which is more personal if anything.

I worked at Square Enix UK (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It was such a great environment to work in. Everyone was pretty amiable and understanding. The onus of responsibility is up to each individual person; this means that if you're late, you won't be getting money for the time you didn't show up but you won't be berated for it. Great bosses as well.

    Cons

This is more of a downside of QA rather than Square Enix, but the downtime between builds is really lame. The worst thing here is being given nothing to do because they do not give you access to the internet unless you're of a senior position.

    Advice to Management

Have clearer ways to advance in the company.

I have been working at Square Enix UK part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The best video games and titles come through this place! You need to work hard but it is all worth it at the end! Would reccomend

    Cons

Hard work and very long thinking most of the time! There will always be something that you can do better in better ways and you need to understand that it is hard

    Advice to Management

This is the place you will want to be if you love games and you know this is what you want to do.

    Cons

Nothing to say about the cons of this factory because they are simply amazing! I'll advice to work there to everyone

I worked at Square Enix UK full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Very tolerant and understanding environment, no discrimination
    - Family-like team spirit
    - Career growth, acknowledgement of personal talent
    - Fantastic projects to work on
    - Benefits and yearly bonuses

    Cons

    - Wage policy
    - Processes stretched between UK and Japan times
    - Heavy corporate culture making it sometimes slow for changes to happen

    Advice to Management

    - Consider skills instead of personal preferences upon hiring/granting promotions
    - If you have talent the company has interest in keeping, pay them decently

    Pros

Playing computer games for a living, great co-workers, amazing break room

    Cons

Bosses have a strained relationship with testers, pay is not very high, hours can be long near the end of the contract

    Pros

Fun job working on great titles.

    Cons

It's a games publisher. If you don't know what that means then you should probably look at getting a proper job.

    Pros

Excellent collegial atmosphere that encourages strong camaraderie and teamwork. Most everyone has passion for the products we sell, and its shown in the high level of professionalism and dedication to whatever role an employee has.

    Cons

Nothing beyond what is typically found in the industry - long hours and lower-than-average pay compared to other industries, but this is a small price to pay to be doing something you love!

    Advice to Management

Remember those that kept the ship upright during tougher times and try to reward and recognize their efforts while keeping a forward-looking mentality.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Square Enix UK full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company has changed quite a bit from what I have heard. Used to be only a publishing arm for Japan but now the group is creating and publishing their own products in the digital space. Huge growth in the past couple of months.

    Cons

A ton of meetings. Sometimes it feels like very little is accomplished in the meetings as many are update meetings and not very action oriented.

    Advice to Management

Allow people to continue to grow creatively. Encourage learning. Continue the team building events, and continue to give employees input to the games you are creating. Empower employees to succeed.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook

    Pros

    Interesting work
    Huge titles to work on
    Great colleagues
    UK head of department great

    Cons

Incredibly poor pay for a skilled job
Upper management outside of UK seem to care very little about their people
Removed a huge swathe of jobs to outsource

    Advice to Management

Care more about your people. Understand that quality work requires something in return. Outsourcing work doesn't always give the best results!
