I worked at St. Barnabas Hospital part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A great hospital catering to the Bronx Area, very courteous and helpful staff. Good working environment. Very energetic and dynamic co-workers.

    Cons

Some co-workers are lazy and because they are protected by the union, they would care less of the workload and pass it to new staff..

I have been working at St. Barnabas Hospital full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There's very little administrative oversight. Freedom to work on different projects.

    Cons

It's no wonder Montefiore is taking over. Administration has no real vision, management is often vastly underqualified, and employees are treated no better than the crackheads wandering the streets on Third Avenue. Almost every single initiative that gets pushed forward at SBH feels like a hare-brained scheme. Nobody ever thinks to include a business plan, success metrics, or an overall goal. All anyone cares about is whether you look "diverse" enough.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of your cheap Board of Trustees, stop the rampant nepotism and actually hire qualified people, and start placing more value in your employees.

    Pros

Great mission statement everyone outside the dept I worked for super friendly and welcoming

    Cons

I can only speak for the dept I worked for... union members that have been in for more that 20yrs are miserable

    Advice to Management

Get the union employees that have been in for more than 15ys in one dept so they don't make the fresh new happy employees so unwelcomed that they leave
