I have been working at St. Clair Health part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Very clean facility with great safety ratings. Lots of resources and classes offered. Good pay with two yearly raises. Brand new free employee parking garage. Brand new cafeteria and the food is actually pretty good.

    Cons

Extremely hard to get steady daylight. Particular managers can be hard to work with at times.

    Advice to Management

Be more flexible when working with employee schedules and more present during staffing shortages to help the nurses.

I worked at St. Clair Health full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay, benefits, retirement matching, cafeteria and cafe with GOOD food, coworkers who are mostly friendly and who usually have good attitudes toward work, free parking, overtime available from never being fully staffed, outside of most city traffic, for-profit hospital with money to spend

    Cons

Ineffective training, high turnover, critical management who lacks compassion, communication, leadership and progressive vision, “on-call” for call-offs and expected to work overtime, unorganized resources, “for-profit hospital” who formed originally from community donations now over-charges that community for services

    Advice to Management

An employee’s health is just as important as any patient. Why invest tens-of-thousands into training someone over many months who has a great attitude regardless of an imperfect system, who suggests changes to better everyone’s experience and is not only passionate but loves their job and then throw them aside (allegedly) because of their health needs? Shame on you all for not practicing decency or compassion when things get tough. If you expect to accomplish greatness, it must start at home.

I left for personal reasons nothing to do with the hospital. I learned a lot about how to be a great nurse I worked last at St Clair in 2005

I worked at St. Clair Health part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Nice suburban hospital in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. Friendly co-workers.

    Cons

Management is out of touch with demands placed on employee's. Many are working double and triple shifts, for weeks on end, without a day off. Also, some employees are not given their entitled breaks for meals and bathroom because of what department they are in.

    Advice to Management

Hire more people. Treat your employees as good as you hope to treat your patients. Acknowledge that some individuals have special needs (disabilities) and treat them with kindness.

I have been working at St. Clair Health part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Friendly co-workers. Relaxed work environment. Good pay.

    Cons

Very difficult to get a FT daylight position. Little to no room for advancement. Management isn't easy to work with. Management shows favoritism, as Im sure does everywhere. Been working FT hours and more, for 8+ yrs without being offered, and always passed up for FT positions.

    Advice to Management

Try focusing on the employees who are beneficial to the department, instead of offering the semi-par employees positions to stay employed. This is how you lose good employees.
