I have been working at St. Dominic's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Over the years, I have encountered the most wonderful people, not only who work for me, but also those people working in other areas, as well as those visiting the hospital. Very friendly environment overall. People actually care about the job that they are doing.

    Cons

Top heavy. Fruitless spending has required downsizing in areas, expect at the top. Healthcare is expensive, and costs are steadily rising. However, too many decisions are made by the executives without the input of middle and upper management. The people that actually drive the ship will probably end up sinking it, unfortunately.

    Advice to Management

Take a look around your conference room table and ask yourselves, over the past five years, have we made the best decisions for the future of the hospital. If the answer is no, stop relieving your middle managers and look to replace the bad decision makers within your own circle.

    I worked at St. Dominic's part-time

    Pros

    The security staff is nice

    Cons

This place was very unorganized. The software was out of date. Honestly, they should come up with a better system to register people . the nurses and other staff look down at you and aren't team players when it comes to getting things done. I feel their making free money because their isn't a certain thing as customer service . you may find a few nice ones but that's about it. My badge never worked to get in and out of places. The machines would always go down and someone from the back would either walk up or meet you with paper work . just imagine 12 people waiting to register and 5 in the waiting area waiting needing to sign ,so after they go sit down they have to get back up.. That's an attitude waiting to happen.

I have been working at St. Dominic's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Wonderful coworkers that care about me inside and outside of the hospital. The patients are generally kind and satisfiable. Plenty of shift options.

    Cons

Understaffed and overcrowded can often lead to unnecessary stressful situations. Miscommunication amongst departments happens from time to time. Packed out hospital floors and/or units leads to holds in the ER overnight on a fairly routine basis.

    Advice to Management

Hire more employees to help the ER run more efficiently.

I have been working at St. Dominic's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Friendly coworkers, gymn on site

    Cons

    1. I have to park at another St. Dominic campus several miles away and take a shuttle bus to and from the main hospital in the morning and afternoon. If anything comes up during the day I have to arrange a ride out to my car.
    2. Really cramped working environment.

    Advice to Management

Fix the parking situation. The wait time to move to the garage across the street from the hospital is over two years.
