I have been working at St Francis Hospital full-time

    Pros

Nursing staff puts patient's needs as top priority

    Cons

Decreased hours, increasing work load during restructuring after LifePoint acquisition places more stress on nursing staff and makes patient care less personable

    Advice to Management

Verify information provided by department heads prior to staffing decisions being made. Talk to the actual people providing services before you decide where cut backs can be made

I worked at St Francis Hospital part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good team work (on some floors)
    Scanning system

    Cons

St. Francis was bought out by a major company, meaning employees are now just numbers and every action is guided towards profit. Everything is micro managed, such as doing bedside shift reports with a nurse manager watching you, checking off boxes on a list. High acuity patients for a horrible nurse to patient ratio of 1:6 (this is why there are so many falls). Nurses and nurse techs are physically and mentally exhausted with the patient load. The pay is extremely low compared to Savannah, GA. Moreover, pay is always screwed up so you don't always get your critical pay or overtime. If you are PRN, you always float to every other floor than the one you're hired on, and these floors are the most understaffed because everyone hates working there. NO teamwork when you float, and horrible team assignments.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees like human beings so they respect you, thus, feel proud to work in this facility and have a sense of belonging. Stop saying, "back when I was on the floor I took way more patients." Well guess what, it's 2017 and advances in technology have tripled the number of chronic diseases patients have, making them sicker than ever before. LISTEN to your employees needs and maybe they'll stop dropping like flies
