I have been working at St. James Healthcare full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

If you are a recent graduate in any field you have a good chance of getting a job at St. James. They like to hire people with no experience at the bottom of the pay scale. The cost of living in Butte is reasonable.

    Cons

Communication and respect from middle and upper management to the real workers is not present. Most of those in management came from within and have no leadership skills. Our hospitalist provider has been unable to supply the hospital with quality physicians.

    Advice to Management

Understand that a hospital cannot function without wonderful, caring people spending face time with the consumer (patient). The hospital does not need more people to sit in meetings and create busy work for the caregivers who are actually taking care the ill. We need more caregivers to take care of the sick and injured. We need a CEO who can work well with physicians and the community and portray the hospital in a positive light.

I worked at St. James Healthcare full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Employees are very dedicated and caring to patient.

    Cons

Top heavy on inadequate management and administration. They do not treat their employees well.

    Advice to Management

They need to house clean and eliminate present management, bring in capable management that are able to function and make rational choices. They need to act fairly instead of playing favorites. They should live up to their mission.

    Pros

employees receive benefits when they are hired. benefits are pretty good. employees receive a twenty percent discount in the cafe.

    Cons

poor management and poor leadership skills. seems like senior leaders do not respect employees. some leaders/ managers treat employees like they are stupid.

    Advice to Management

have better management and leadership skills. directors of departments need to know how to direct the department. managers/ leaders should treat all employees equal and should not show favoritism.

    Pros

The staff of St. James is extremely caring and competent. A great deal of expertise exists within a relatively small hospital.

    Cons

St. James Healthcare is not in tune to the trends and rapid developments which are taking place in health care.

    Advice to Management

Become more adept at health care forecasting. Thoroughly evaluate the national trends which are occurring in the health care industry and apply them to strategic forecasting at St. James.
