    "A great workplace environment"

    Pros

SJP is the kind of company that you love going to work because the workplace environment is amazing. Co-workers are friendly and very helpful. At SJP everyone definitely works very hard and everyone is committed to there business and their clientele, however, the company culture is very friendly and approachable

    Cons

While people are friendly and approachable you have to be the first mover. Once you integrate yourself into the social dynamics it is very open, but at first it can be a challenge. It would have been better is management pushed a little harder and guided you a little more.

    Advice to Management

Guide and mentor new employees more.

I have been working at St. James's Place Wealth Management full-time

    Pros

Studying is paid for, able to work closely with Senior Partners and learn directly from them. Close location to home.

    Cons

Management can sometimes be too busy to deal with personal queries. The training can be a long process. Alot more pros than cons.

    Advice to Management

To dedicate some clients to other partners so they have more time to train the trainees and upcoming advisers. Nothing else at the moment.

I have been working at St. James's Place Wealth Management full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Huge potential upside for financial advisers within the group, with high earnings potential and complete control over your work/life balance

    Cons

Very poor benefits (little/no pension, no health cover, poor remuneration) for support staff and trainees within the advisory Practices which are run as small businesses and rarely see the benefits of investing in their staff. There is little governance from the corporate Group to ensure support staff receive fair benefits, as such many remain underpaid.

    Advice to Management

Ensure that fair benefits are provided to not just advisers (those who bring in the money) but also their support staff, who ensure the whole operation continues to function.

    Pros

    Brilliant culture and work environment

    Cons

Progression is a little slow in head office as it is based in a small town so not much movement.

    Pros

Good marketing operation and expensive looking brochures.

    Cons

SJP drive a coach & horses through FCA and RDR requirements, using a quasi-commission based "fee" structure. This leads to miss selling and poor practice, which is swept under the carpet as long as the Partner is a profitable business producer. Some Partners earn in excess of £250,000 PA , employ a paraplanner on 30K to do all the hard work, and swan around on the golf course most of the week. Partners often treat any compliance intervention with contempt, and are supported by the business in doing so.

    Advice to Management

Join the 21st Century, this is no longer the Allied Crowbar / Hambro Life old boys club.
