I have been working at St. Joseph Health System full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great values, great people, lots of locations/opportunities. This use to be an outstanding company, but the Pros are dwindling with the takeover by Providence.

    Cons

Slow to do anything, no one gets in trouble, decisions made by folks far removed from the need. HR is worthless, too much Favoritism. People don't return calls or emails making it hard to be successful. And demotions (reorganization) hidden behind lies.

    Advice to Management

Your losing great people by downgrading their jobs. Reorging a CEO into a 'Chief', a VP to a Director, Directors to managers is making people leave to companies that treats their people better.

I have been working at St. Joseph Health System full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great company, high standards, good values. Lots of fun employee events. Work here for the cause, not the paycheck.

    Cons

Don't expect huge pay increases. On average you get 2% a year. You can move up the ladder, but the pay won't increase by much; I believe it caps at 5%.

    Pros

There are good people working at the hospitals.

    Cons

Don't expect to get much professional development at the local hospital levels if you're a woman in non-clinical areas. There's a definite boys club that keeps the glass ceiling nice and thick unless you're a nurse and there is a clinical director or CNO position.
