I worked at St. Jude Medical as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Knowing that you're working for a company that produces advanced medical device technology that saves and prolongs life.

St. Jude Medical has some of the nicest people I've ever met. On my first day, I was looking for a can-opener in the kitchen. Without me asking, a guy passing by introduced himself and asked around to see if anyone had one that I could borrow.

I myself never did, but a lot of full-time employees often worked from home.

Good balance of professional and casual company culture (business professional dress M-TH and casual dress on Fridays)

Treat employees with respect and offer great benefits

    Cons

They have just been acquired by Abbott Labs so there will be some changes and growing pains. But ultimately, it's going to yield a lot of opportunities.

I worked at St. Jude Medical as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Unbelievable Responsibility: As a co-op you are treated just like a full time engineer. If you have a great idea, management and development will support your concept all the way to implementation.

Learning Opportunities: Incredibly talented engineers/scientists and eager to share knowledge.

Advanced Labs: Access to advanced measurement and manufacturing equipment: PCB routers, CNC, Professional 3D Printers, VNA, fast oscilloscopes

Diversity: Stock photo ready; inclusion and diversity is definitely celebrated

    Cons

Hiring Process: Received the offer about 2 weeks before finishing school year and 3 days to accept offer. Was not a lot of time to plan moving three states over.

    Advice to Management

Workforce could hire younger engineers, felt out of place being in young 20's. Could definitely work on a better way to organize on-boarding of employees.
