I have been working at St. Louis County Government full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The benefits are good. Working toward the rule of 80 for retirement is a standard goal, as the vested retirement is valuable.

    Cons

The administration in place can define the work experience more than one might guess. One must always remember the city is, in many ways, a small one, and everyone knows everyone.

    Advice to Management

Judge people only on their merit.

I have been working at St. Louis County Government full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Guaranteed 40 hrs a week, benefits are ok

    Cons

Lack of raises, haven't had a raise in 5 years and they are saying it may be another 5 years before we get one. Management are lying snakes and very unprofessional. Promotions are the only way you will get a raise. Promotions are not based on merit but on who is the biggest butt sucker. In many cases promotions are decided years in advance.

    Advice to Management

Quit and let real leaders come in and restore integrity to the County. Used to be a great place to work.

I have been working at St. Louis County Government full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

None. The only good thing I can think of is that I will soon be able to move on to a different employer.

    Cons

LIES. Don't believe a word they say about anything. In my interview HR stated that I everyone gets a 3% raise and possibly a merit raise on top of that annually. There have been 2 raises in 11 years. They only want YES people and not anyone who might have an idea. Management gives themselves raises by changing their job titles. Managers/supervisors are very unprofessional. People do not stay at ST Louis County. The pay is not a living wage. Training is non existent.

    Advice to Management

If you have been there longer than 35 years, RETIRE.

I have been working at St. Louis County Government full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, easy, basic clinical care

    Cons

Staff are not team players, they gossip like crazy, management is just as bad. Very very negative environment due to staff attitude.

    Advice to Management

Stop gossiping with your staff and act like a manager, not a high school student.

I have been working at St. Louis County Government full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Fun outdoor job, you can lead educational programs for adults or kids, patrol parks by bike, foot, vehicle, or atv. Lots of freedom in the job to make the day how you want. Good benefits.

    Cons

Poor leadership, very few opportunities to move up, no or very few raises and when you do get a raise it's small. Work nights, weekends, and holidays.
