I worked at St. Luke's Health System full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay is decent love the free tuition for kids

    Cons

Management does not know what they are doing- has all the good workers doing the job of 3 people while the slackers are not expected to do anything

    Advice to Management

Stop allowing the screw ups to sit and watch videos, talk endlessly with other slacker coworkers and expect the good employees to always have to pick up the slack.

I have been working at St. Luke's Health System full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

So many good people to work with.

    Cons

Executives don’t care about employees. Many employees don’t even know who’s in what leadership position. Executives hide out in the Washington Grouo Plaza while hundreds of employees lose their jobs at the hospitals. Communication is the worst.

    Advice to Management

Take better care of your employees and your leaders that are making the changes and still trying to stay positive for their direct reports. Be better communicators. What you think you are communicating is nothing more than vague information that you continue to repeat so you feel like you’ve communicated.

    Pros

Luke's (my department) is a great place to work. It is like family, some days you love who and what you do, and some days you hate who and what you do but, at the end of the day they are always there for you.

    Cons

Insurance kinda sucks, but at least you have it.

    Advice to Management

Know your employees, they are the heart of your clinics.

    Pros

Working in the Finance department is really nice. All of the people are good to work with and it's been a great opportunity. Managers are willing to work with people to accommodate life events and time off. There isn't pressure to work excessive hours and you are encouraged to have a work/life balance.

    Cons

Non-Profit so there are no bonuses.
Large company, so decisions take a long time to filter through approval levels.

I have been working at St. Luke's Health System full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The people you work with are the best. The pay is competitive. The paid time off is good, you so get capped out so if you don't use it you can't gain more.

    Cons

The leadership is ridiculous. They don't listen. They avoid conflict management until good employees leave. Given it is a health care giant the health insurance is horribly expensive. Even with the discounts for being "healthy" it takes a nice chunk of the paycheck. The deductable is also high for a family. No real room for growth. Promotions are based on who you know.

    Advice to Management

If multiple people have an issue with one person, look at that person for disciplinary issues vs the person/s bringing it to your attention. Lower the cost for health insurance for your employees if they use the St Luke's facilities.
