I worked at St. Vincent Health System (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Magnet hospital, shared governance, up-to-date, and great nurses.

    Cons

Going through many transitions right now - growing, changing management, acquiring more facilities. These are all good things, but make for a stressful environment.

    Advice to Management

Give managers plenty of time to turn a department around. Reassure employees and provide more praise.

I have been working at St. Vincent Health System full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Clean facility and decent benefits. Not much more to say on

    Cons

Poor Management. Employees are not treated with kidness or respect. Employees are not a voice and are not heard by management.

    Advice to Management

Have a good work relationship with staff. Listen to team to effectively address department issues. Don't hire non nursing, non clinical managers to manage Registered Nurses. Its not effective and creates conflict.

I have been working at St. Vincent Health System full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I have an exceptional boss and work with a great team of people!

    Cons

Too much emphasis on making money. There is very little value placed on employees by upper management. Insurance is WAY too high for a hospital organization.

    Advice to Management

Each and every person that works in the network should be treated as a valuable asset so my advice to upper management is to value your employees no matter what their position is.

    Pros

I worked great hours. No Supervision. I basically worked on my own.

    Cons

On a monthly basis I had difficulties processing and receiving the tools and finances to keep the Mail Room up and running.

    Advice to Management

Show more respect and stand behind your Associates a little better.

I have been working at St. Vincent Health System full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Nice community, caring coworkers, excellent health insurance, tuition assistance, PTO.

    Cons

Very low pay for non-clinical staff. difficult to advance, quite "clique-ish," depends on who you know. Same story as every other corporation. Large pay discrepancies among employees who do the same job. It's very "old school," as in, if you're found to be comparing salaries they will fire you.

    Advice to Management

Give us low-paid clerical staff a raise - you can't function without us yet we're not even paid a living wage.

I have been working at St. Vincent Health System full-time

    Pros

CHI works at keeping salary competitive with area companies. Has tuition reimbursement to further education. The health system has 4 facilities in which could work.

    Cons

Hard to advance up the ladder of management. Problems may not be fixed when presented to upper management.

    Advice to Management

Follow through with items you talk with employees about. Actively listen to what employees are as well when they are telling you about problems they are having.

I worked at St. Vincent Health System full-time

    Pros

It was a very good team environment. I really enjoyed working with everyone and felt that management was very supportive.

    Cons

At the time there were many unfilled positions which made it very hard to get everything done.

I worked at St. Vincent Health System full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I liked working at st.Vincent because everything that was done there was a team effort in organizing health care plans for patients. Getting to know different individuals daily and lending a helping hand by offering services to promote patients no only the thrive but to eat healthy and providing community resource for all their needs upon returning home.

    Cons

Down sides not meeting length of stay goals at times and seeing death.

    Advice to Management

Always let employers know what a great job they have done.
