    Pros

The people are very friendly and professional. They handle client needs promptly and courteously.

    Cons

This is just a training site. Hope to remain with them.

I worked at St. Vincent's Services as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Centrally located in Downtown Brooklyn, easily accessible by public transportation. Many of the individuals who work here are very nice and friendly. Patient population is pretty standard for this type of OMH clinic.

    Cons

The building is a dump. The communication is terrible. They balk at providing necessary equipment to do job safely and in compliance with the law. People are often expected to stay beyond their scheduled hours on their own time because the work load is more than can be accomplished in scheduled hours.

I have been working at St. Vincent's Services full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

If you enter the right department the environment is about teamwork and making sure that the interest of the clients are served.

    Cons

Management had forgotten what it means to be on the lower part of the hierarchy and how much work there is to do. They continue to delegate without considering doing the work themselves, or even assisting. If I am paid for 35 hours, then there should be some form of compensation when the workload assigned takes more then 35 hours to accomplish each week.

I have been working at St. Vincent's Services full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

You have a job. Which is a good thing.

    Cons

There are never any supplies or money to buy supplies. Most machines in the building such as copy machines, faxes, etc are broken. We're continuously being told there's no money to fix it so deal with it.

    Advice to Management

You're going to lose all your great employees because of poor money management. I've been here 5 years and we haven't even gotten a cost of living raise. The price of everything has gone up and here we are in 2013 making the same salary we made in 2008. That's not fair. (probably not even legal)

I have been working at St. Vincent's Services full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The main staff are amazing for the most part. Easy to get along with and works together well. The youth is also great to work with.

    Cons

Not many perks or raises. You have to be in this for the principle. Raises are very rare. Benefits are nothing special, not amazing but gets you by.

    Advice to Management

Work on raises and employee benefits.

I worked at St. Vincent's Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Consistently caring supervision.
    Great central location within Brooklyn.

    Cons

Administration is resistant to feedback of any kind from Casework staff.
Though there was constant supervision, in two years only given two days of counseling training.
Poor integration between intake and care services.
No manual for how to fill out forms and no database for electronic forms.

    Advice to Management

Provide more training on how to do the job in the very beginning to reduce the turnover.
