I worked at Standard Chartered Bank full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    1. Potential to do very good if management really puts in the required effort
    2. Very talented junior people across the bank
    3. International mobility

    Cons

    1. Don't really see the bank going anywhere. Lots of problems but unwillingness to acknowledge and rectify in the proper manner
    2. Huge central/HO cost base, much of which is unnecessary fat. Lots of managers, very few doers.
    2. Quite a few incompetent senior leaders across the organisation
    3. Getting promoted internally gets you lower pay hire than external hires

I have been working at Standard Chartered Bank full-time

    Pros

    Excellent and supportive co-workers

You are taught how to "hustle" for yourself in the Bank

With enough time you could find yourself in another geography doing something completely different (if you are open to the experience)

    Cons

Top heavy, with more junior employees not always receiving the recognition deserve

Talent development for the junior staff is rather scant at time

    Advice to Management

Perhaps to pare down the excessive management layers
