Former Employee - Food Runner/Server in New York, NY

I worked at Standard International Management part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good job for college students and those looking to interact with people on a daily basis

    Cons

The hours being 24/7 were a little taxing but the pay bump for the off hours was worth it.

I worked at Standard International Management

    Pros

Service is fun in an open kitchen, talking to guests.

    Cons

Prep team is poorly staffed and barely managed. Expected to prep way more than is physically possible in 2.5 hours (everyone comes in 1-2 hours early off the clock). 6 day work weeks, 2 of the 3 sous chefs sucked.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Standard International Management for more than a year

    Pros

Great peers. Diverse set of backgrounds and interests

    Cons

Management definitely micromanages. They are a very untrustworthy group of managers who often conduct meetings behind clothes doors and are forced to keep their mouths shut about anything said about any of the employees. It really contributes to a disconnect between management and employees.

    Advice to Management

    Be more open!
