I have been working at Stanley Consultants full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great people to work with
    Work schedule is fairly flexible
Good opportunities resulting in good experience

    Cons

Sometimes work long hours and sometimes waiting for work
Expected to only count "chargeable time" to reduce overhead - if waiting for work this means weekends or late nights

    Advice to Management

    Don't drive good talent away
Coordinate with other offices to "fill in" down time

I worked at Stanley Consultants full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Interesting work, good people. Always felt like working for a firm that was concerned with its employees' well-being and development. Progressively increases in responsibility were available.

    Cons

Conservatively managed firm; this means that caution is always exercised when pursuing new business opportunities, which has some benefits, but also costs.

    Advice to Management

Aggressively pursuing new business will keep the firm independent in the future.

    Pros

Great group of people. Low stress environment. Pay was decent. Open door policy with anyone and you can always go for help.

    Cons

Work wasn't interesting and when I was hired back, I wasn't allowed to shift into another appealing position. Bad chemistry among some co workers.

I worked at Stanley Consultants full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent group of people to work with, opportunities for growth in some positions (but not in mine), feels like a family atmosphere, can go to anyone for help or advice. Excellent benefits.

    Cons

I feel that my salary was a bit on the low side, but it was fair. Not-so-great raises during the time I was there (3 years), not supportive about outside the box thinking, having the corporate office in Muscatine, IA lends itself to the good old boy network.

    Advice to Management

Be willing to innovate and be willing to step outside the box with things like working from home.

    Pros

Solid ethics, fair to employees. Good vision at the top.

    Cons

Hit by 2008 crisis, Compnay is recovering and expected to make great strides as we move into 2013-2014 budget year,

    Advice to Management

Articulate details of visison. Move a little bit faster.

I worked at Stanley Consultants full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Employees are called members and are treated well. The company offers competitive benefits, and above average compensation. Management encourages personal development and employees are recognized for their performance and tenure.

    Cons

Many employees have long tenure with the organization. This makes it difficult to implement change and trust new ideas. Employees in the engineering field have many opportunities for advancement, others in operations and administration do not.

    Pros

The engineering work is pretty comprehensive and covers a variety of different types of work. The benefits have been great, and upfront.

    Cons

Being a consulting company there are periods of being very busy and then periods of being slow.

    Advice to Management

    Good work, keep it up.

    Pros

It's consulting work so for Engineers times can be rather busy or really slow. Benefits are okay, but the best part is most departments work on Compressed Work Week so every other Friday is off for members. If you work hard it seems like there's a good path to leadership.

    Cons

Because it's a bit of a small town company a lot of times department heads are in the small town of Muscatine, Iowa. Not a whole lot of people are eager to move here, though it's a nice place. A lot of the employees have been here for a very long time too so it's hard to move up and sometimes they are very stuck on how they want to do certain things.
