Pros
There were a lot of talented people on the team at Stanley. It was an iconic brand in the furniture business. That was the main attraction plus many joined when the company was trying to save one of the last, large scale furniture manufacturing plants in the US.
Cons
The CEO was in way over his head and it killed the company.

When Stanley was producing furniture in the USA, the environment was good and the direction of the company quite clear. The factories were working hard on utilizing Lean and TPS to ensure key metrics were met and profitability ensured.

Turnover of upper management - VP level and above was high, and objectives changed with each new head of operations.

Best boss ever! The overall experience was very helping in understanding the furniture business as well as the financial sector of it. Great way to access the furniture market and view other businesses.

The plant in Robbinsville went out of business as it should have.
Cons
10 hour min work days for little pay. Benefits were terrible. They like to use engineers and promise future expansion within the company. Very unsafe and unhealthy working conditions. I got nose bleeds reguarly due to poor saw dust management. Environment was very negative. 3 employees attempted suicide in the short time I was there. 2 of the attempts were in the plant.
