I have been working at Stansberry Research full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Above market salaries + bonuses if the company has a good year (which it almost always does)
Fun environment that provides a flexible work/life balance
Amazing financial research. Makes me feel good about the products we sell and it helps my 401(k) grow.
There are some tremendous people who work here.
The extra vacation days in the summer (one year we got the entire month of August off!) are awesome.

    Cons

you need to be competitive and driven. if not, you could get lost in the shuffle. If you are creative, you can make a fortune and really move up in the company provided you can execute on your ideas. But you won't last long if you are timid.

    Advice to Management

The management needs to just keep doing what they've been doing. The company is definitely heading in the right direction.

I have been working at Stansberry Research (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good pay, decent benefits, employees are treated well.

    Cons

No clear career pathing. Seems like you have to know someone in another department to move around within the company. Movement is based less on what you know and more on who you know.

    Advice to Management

No advice that I’m willing to offer at this time

I worked at Stansberry Research full-time

    Pros

Amazing people to work with and a fun environment. The pay is great and there are fun incentives like summer weeks off.

    Cons

It is easy to miss all the politics when there are constantly happy hours and fun work outings- but there is absolutely no loyalty to anyone who is not part of the "club"

The company is very cliquey and the only room for advancement and growth is dependent on who you know. There is no transparency or open communication. The marketing is sketchy at best and there is a serious lack of communication between departments.

    Advice to Management

Stop micromanaging. Be upfront and honest with your employees. Promote from within and provide growth opportunities. Appreciate and recognize every department of the company.

I have been working at Stansberry Research full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits, Parties, Regular Free Food, Pay, Access to Investment Material for Free

    Cons

The position can be a grind.. can really wear on your over time. The company has some marketing tactics that aren't great, but the investment information is excellent behind it. They just promote it poorly by some people's measures (including mine).

    Advice to Management

Continue doing things to keep spirits up with incentives like happy hours, team contests, random days off, etc.

    Cons

Ladder climbing is difficult. That is all I have but this is requiring 20 words............

    Advice to Management

Need a better way to support upward growth.

I have been working at Stansberry Research full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Stansberry Research is an amazing company with lots of opportunity’s, this company is going places. As an employee I feel so fortunate to have found a company that really cares about their employees and want to see people success in work and in life.

The team environment is fantastic with lots of like minded people who all want to work hard and get things done. This is a forward thinking company, they welcome ideas and are not afraid of change.

    Cons

Things change and new ideas are always introduced, anyone who wants to work here needs to be okay with change and constant learning.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work

I have been working at Stansberry Research full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great coworkers and casual environment. Better pay since the CEO was thrown out and Porter took back control. Being surrounded by great minds. Throw fun parties and events. Always busy.

    Cons

They say there's room to grow. That only happens if you are friends with someone in the department you want to grow into or with unethical tactics. Managers and Directors say they want your input, but no execution until the issue blows up. Then will pretend were never told about it before. Very misleading marketing that borders on the line of illegal.

    Advice to Management

Stop micromanaging and tackle the real issues. Treat your employees better and leave the false promises behind. Seems by the dates of the other reviews, is around the time when the place started going downhill fast. I hope for the sake of us employees, leaders step their game up quick instead of putting a bandaid on real problems.
