I have been working at Stansberry Research full-time

    Pros

    - Comfortability: I like that I work in an office where I can talk to the CEO, or members of other departments, without feeling intimidated or a bother to them.
    - Happy hours, occasional swag, annual Christmas party...fun niceties that the company doesn't have to provide but chooses to are a great plus.
    - Wealth of financial research at my disposal, which has taught me a lot about investing.

    Cons

    - Customer Service vs Other Departments: CS does not have some of the perks other departments do, and has policies that others don't, such as occurrences. Occurrences can lead to termination, and occur if you're unexpectedly sick (and didn't request the day off with more than 24 hours notice), or when you come into work 5 or more minutes after 8:30. I understand the goal of this policy, but think it misses the mark.
    - Communication: Depending on what department you're in, the information you hear varies.

    Advice to Management

    - Continue to be vocal and upfront about our goals, where we stand, and what's on the horizon. It's great being kept in the loop in regards to that, and I think management already does a good job at this.
    - Lunch with the CEO was a great concept; it might be interesting to continue this in other ways with new departments.

I have been working at Stansberry Research full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Everyone is more than happy to teach or lend a hand to any projects/questions. Each department makes a point of providing the tools to fully understand the company itself, and the financial markets so that employees are better prepared inside and outside of the office.

    Cons

Communication between departments can be lacking at times.

I have been working at Stansberry Research full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Have worked for Stansberry for about four years now. I have worked hard, but have made incredible advancements through the company. There are constantly opportunities arising and a ton of room for growth. It's one of the few companies I have worked for where you are rewarded for your hard work.

Great out of work benefits too- team building, happy hours, bonus vacation time, etc.

    Cons

One of the only frustrations of working at Stansberry for me, is breakdowns in communication, but that is a challenge everywhere I have worked and can be in personal life as well.

    Pros

encourages bold ideas and entrepreneurship - anybody can become a star
no micromanagement - just do your job
great team environment. very intelligent people
growing company - best in the business at what we do

    Cons

not a good place to come and work if you need your hand held - or can't meet deadlines

    Advice to Management

there's some dead weight around here that could be let go

I have been working at Stansberry Research full-time

    Pros

Nice to work at a place with big goals
    Friendly and diverse employee base
Folks work hard but go home at reasonable hours
No need for "face-time" if you get your work done well
    Decent pay and benefits
Values loyalty and tenure - the longer you stay and do good work, the more you'll be rewarded
Growing and profitable company with a strong future

    Cons

As the company has grown it's become a bit more hierarchical, but still lots of opportunity to succeed
You need to be self-motivated while at the same time patient.
The public perception of the financial newsletter/publishing industry is mixed-to-negative, so you need to be aware of that. However, Stansberry is the best of the best in the industry in terms of quality and integrity

    Advice to Management

Keep moving quality of content upstream
Video & audio need to be larger part of biz
Profit sharing should reach down further beyond the senior execs.
Need to add true investment expertise to exec mgmt level beyond Porter.

I have been working at Stansberry Research full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Leadership has nurtured its employees and dynamic corporate culture, from the beginning. As a result, SR is now a family of colleagues committed to helping each other and the company succeed - we work hard and play hard - together! Everyone is given a voice and are often encouraged / reminded to use it. Our CEO has integrity, vision and great appreciation for each person on the SR team. I love working for a company where anyone can be the hero!

    Cons

Open floor plan in most areas

I have been working at Stansberry Research full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The compensation is certainly on par with the higher paying firms in the area. The culture is fantastic and it’s a pleasure to come to work every day.

If you’ve got a good idea and are willing to work for it, you can see it implemented. Good work/life balance.

Porter Stansberry believes in treating people the way he'd want his own family to be treated... and it shows.

    Cons

    Nothing comes to mind.

If something isn't working, management makes the necessary changes.

    Pros

Our business is about ideas. I love the intellectual challenge of working at Stansberry Research, and the excitement of finding and executing a great new idea. Best of all, our business helps hundreds of thousands of people make better financial decisions and avoid the pitfalls of Wall Street.

Porter is one of the smartest people I've ever met. He and the entire executive team are approachable, open to new ideas, and constantly innovating.

I'm a 10+ year veteran of Stansberry Research and Agora. I can honestly say it's the most rewarding job I've ever had.

    Cons

If you're looking to skate through a 9-to-5 job, this isn't for you.
