I have been working at Stantec full-time for less than a year

    Pros

good benefits, keep busy, travel is good

    Cons

Corporate financials like to push the idea that you'll get fired if you're not billable to a client all the time, corporate higher ups push more projects than teams can handle at one time, project managers are not great at teaching junior staff, constant pressure for training to be free

    Advice to Management

Invest more in teaching people how to do their jobs instead of pressuring them to work for free when they need training

    I worked at Stantec full-time

    Pros

Great culture Good benefits Good experience Good location Good learning curve

    Cons

Lack of guidance Vague explanations Poor judgement of character Poor soft skills Inexperienced management

    Advice to Management

Learn to provide guidance of any role. Vague explanations of responsibilities create disconnect. Learn to escalate less about minuscule situations and inform on how to do something instead of pointing the finger at people. Look to take the time to explain things correctly and learn to lead instead of being a boss. You as management should be leading by example not giving orders. Let people make mistakes and help... them improve rather than blaming them. Management needs to be mindful of the impact of words and the way they can come off as there is no awareness of how it does. Word of advice if you do not perform at the level they desire they will let you go in a heart beat. So before applying to a position at the company be certain you are prepared to be resourceful as possible and get ready to learn on your own as the explanations to teach about a subject to someone are horrible. There are more empty promises of being able to provide your idea's for innovation, but all management desires is full control. They do not care to listen and only want to you to do what they say and perform how they want you to do it. Management will judge you body language to state if you are truly paying attention or not so be aware.

    Pros

    Cons

Bad environment... full of drama and pettiness. Everyone is watching for their back and looking for the right moment to staved you. No true sense of leadership or teamwork. Advice to Management

Need to start by hiring true leaders and not dictators from 3rd world countries.

Keep your eyes open for truly talented folks. Don't let tenure be the deciding factor in building the right project team.
