I have been working at Staples part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The workplace culture is interesting. You meet people with a vast variety of skills worth learning.

    Cons

It is stressful work. Customers expect you to be a trained graphic artist or know everything about their device. And since not every store follows the same rules and procedures customers get offended when you tell them their job costs X amount or that it is not something was supposed to do.

    Advice to Management

please help copy center. stick to our 1 100 1000 rule and don't lead customers on about unrealistic expectations.

I worked at Staples full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Stable company... lots of overtime hours (especially in the Atlanta FC)... health benefits offered

    Cons

Last minute overtime called. Physical as in lifting, pushing in excess of 30 lbs throughout the shift... Benefits are available but not very good when it its time to co-pay.

    Advice to Management

Please consider being upfront with (potential) employees about mandatory overtime whenever needed.

I have been working at Staples part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

One pro of the job is that you get to work on computers and learn quite a lot.

    Cons

Not only are you expected to work on customers computers as well as be able to go out on the floor and sale. You get treated more like a manger in a sense that if anyone with a tech question walks into the store your expected to stop what your doing to help even if your working a computer or if your putting up freight, or if your already assisting someone else. I think everyone in the store should have the basic knowledge to help some one find ink or any other basic questions, instead of the tech having to stop what they're doing to answer one question.

    Advice to Management

My advice would be to let the techs do what they do best which is work on the computers and sell tech stuff. I would say that they also need to make basic related items a part of everyone's training that way the techs can do there jobs and not just run around all the time answering questions,
