I have been working at Staples (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, good work life balance, locations all over the US so it gives you an easy opportunity to relocate

    Cons

The commission structure in sales changes too often, I feel like there are too many meetings and conference calls which pull you away from selling

    Advice to Management

Would like to see a 5 or 6% 401k match

I worked at Staples part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There is now high compensation per hour. There is also the ability to take on new opportunities and gain experience in different aspects of the company, like technology, sales, and copy and print.

    Cons

There is a lack of upward mobility and a lack of flexibility from management. I worked at two different locations, and within both, management relies on their employees to learn new responsibilities without giving them the opportunity to move into higher roles.

I worked at Staples full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The best reasons would be growth potential. Interaction with different guest daily. Developing and training associates. Competitive sales environment. Excellent benefits including stock options.

    Cons

Poor replenishment of merchandise. Unrealistic payroll budgets during peak times. Need to update CBT training. Need to do better at offering cross training programs.

    Advice to Management

Upper management should be more visible during non peak times. They should be aware of the development of all associates. If they have not been promoted from within, they should go through a training process that is geared towards the success of the company.
