    Pros

Enjoyed Co workers, Good pay, High expectations of everyone who works there, Flexible hours, Management is easy to get along with

    Cons

My only con was management turnover rate. This was not a Staples issue but rather an issue with the store itself. Some people were hired who shouldn't have been but others were very competent and, unfortunately, promoted or offered jobs with other stores within the company.

    Advice to Management

    No advice necessary.

    Pros

This was my summer job as a college student, and they worked with my summer schedule, and allowed me to make my own hours so I could take vacations. Staples was very accommodating. The people I worked with were great and the tone management set for everyone was relaxed. We got our work done but had a lot of fun doing the work.

    Cons

During Back-to-School events, I felt the overnights were unnecessarily long and pointless. If they had created a very specific schedule or spreadsheet of each person's duties the night would have been shorter and things would have gotten done faster.

    Advice to Management

Be more organized during back-to-school events, also know the hours of operation of most restaurants and get food ordered before everything closes for the employees staying for overnight organization of BTS

I worked at Staples part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The culture of the company is very empowering. They give employees the power to make things right for the customer. That approach puts people before profits, which translates to higher profits as a result of customer and associate satisfaction. Management was open to suggestions and had a willingness to work with associates when work conflicted with personal obligations.

    Cons

They hire based on customer demands; therefore they cut hours when customer traffic is low. This usually only occurs during late spring and early summer but the reduced hours can be hard on your personal budget.

I worked at Staples full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The pay is good, the people you work with are cool. I'm talking about their warehouse jobs.

    Cons

Overtime may be required, hard work is required. The money is there, but the schedule can be demanding. Talk to your supervisor about what you're getting into.

    Advice to Management

Continue to hold it down. Most of you guys are pretty decent people. And don't get cocky, changes do come and the snakes do end up with nothing.

    Pros

Staples has a strong culture of giving back and helping associates. The investments made in the corporate headquarters show that the company is committed to providing a better work environment for associates and that their people are important to them even when going through a reinvention. I loved working for Staples and you will too.

    Cons

On-boarding process can be improved by having best practice documents and process documents easy to access on the intranet. A lot of time is spent wasted by new hires and managers trying to figure out how to set up work stations.

    Advice to Management

Streamline and simplify processes making it easier to take risks and be truly innovative. Encourage managers to embrace a true work-life balance.
