I have been working at Staples full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Staples can be a fun place to work when sales are going well and you have the right managers and team. They also have a decent health insurance package for full-time, plus a 401k match.

    Cons

If your store management isn't great, your sales will show it and pressure and stress will build rapidly, making it a not so fun place to work. Lots of micro management and tons of metrics to hit, including many "flavor of the month" type products. The pay isn't great for all that's expected of part time associates.

    Advice to Management

Keep it simple, fun, and fair. Give associate recognition for their hard work.

I have been working at Staples part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

At least 25 hours. Hands on Tech training. Hands on customer service. Face to face technology and service experience.

    Cons

Lower/Regular pay, nothing special. Hours fluxuate.

    Advice to Management

Give good directions, be patient with employees, outline and do not be over bearing to employees who have been there more than a year and are doing well. Train new employees in a faster, more efficient way.

I have been working at Staples full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Once I made my career intentions known and management recognized my potential, many opportunities opened up. The company has a few mentoring and leadership development programs to help develop certain skills that a necessary for any job.

    Cons

Work hours are semi-rigid with minimal PTO allowed. Scheduling for PTO works on a seniority basis, so it is difficult to get time off at certain times of the year if you are near the bottom of the totem pole.

    Advice to Management

Don't micromanage the details. We understand that you are accountable for certain data results. Communicate goals about how you want the numbers to change.
