I have been working at Staples full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Once I made my career intentions known and management recognized my potential, many opportunities opened up. The company has a few mentoring and leadership development programs to help develop certain skills that a necessary for any job.

No shortage of tasks needed to be done.

    Cons

No opportunity for for advancement. If you are looking to make a career w Staples, you're wasting your time. Staples tends to recruit and hire persons who are just showing up to earn a paycheck rather than those who would make a career w the company-those who take pride in the work that they do.

    Advice to Management

I worked at Staples part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some managers were great, lots of team building

    Cons

Poor training, some managers were terrible, unreasonable sales goals, lots of "Clopeners"

Associate rewards membership was a nice extra incentive.
Relatively flexible, and local management cared about personal issues.

    Cons

Just bought out, change of ownership.
Associate pay is laughable relative to work, especially in the Copy Center.

    Advice to Management

Treat part time associates like equals, just as you should treat all human beings as equals.
Pay is ridiculously low, with weak incentives for career progression - give appropriate pay!!
