I have been working at Staples part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Can use coupons with your 10% associate discount. Staples stars are good when the managers actually give them out. Corporate comes in a lot to assess store.

    Cons

Discount is only 10%. Quick turn over. Copy center machines constantly breaking down.

I have been working at Staples part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Helping customers, working with computers, constantly learning something new, producing gorgeous banners and other products.

    Cons

Extremely busy from 1 to 5, very rude and unrealistic customers, awful pay, understaffed, under trained, bureaucratic work environment, machines constantly break, constantly busy every moment, complex orders passing between associates without adequate notes, standing all day, slow computers, faulty software/hardware, a lot of employees quit and many new employees are unable to perform to standard, management could use more training

    Advice to Management

Set more time for training, staff appropriately for busy hours, don't have a policy of letting customers walk all over you because they'll just get worse and come to unrealistic expectations, update your computers/servers because there is a lot of time wasted due to slow loading, let associates cash out WYB customers with the POS system rather than waste time invoicing every order. PAY YOUR ASSOCIATES AND SUPERVISORS A DECENT WAGE. That is a very demanding job, and if you do some research on this site you'll realize how awful your wage is for the amount of skill, knowledge, production proficiency, customer service, and labor that you expect from your employees.

I have been working at Staples full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

They used to be a good company to work for. They used to be about their employees but now it's just about the big bosses making money.

    Cons

Management is not good, not enough employees, no raises, training is not good.

    Advice to Management

Employees need to feel appreciated. Everyone should get raises no matter their job title. Sometimes their position doesn't reflect the work they actually do. We usually do way more than our job description entails.

I have been working at Staples full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Staples has always had its eye on the customers needs first. No matter what department you are working in, there is always something to do. And the best part is, there is pretty much always room to move up in the company.

    Cons

It is an office supply store, so during back to school, the place is hectic! The day seems to drag on and on.

    Advice to Management

Hire extra people during the busy seasons.
