I worked at Star Gas Partners

    Pros

I had an amazing experience with Star Gas Parnters. They have a very family oriented organization. They encouraged me to grow and learn about new areas of the company.

    Cons

There are a lot of employees and management who have been with the company since the start of their career sometimes making it difficult to change processes.

I worked at Star Gas Partners full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There's a gym and cafeteria in the building.

    Cons

No benefits (PTO) until after 1 year of employment, long hours/no work-life balance, unrealistic deadlines, and lots of micromanaging.

I have been working at Star Gas Partners full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Very few pros to speak of. Some of the people are good people and united on a depot level since they have bled together during heating oil season.

    Cons

Hourly Payrate for Non Union employees is not competitive with job market (especially for someone with a college degree) and based upon a generic template/job description expected by the corporate office to cover all 47 brands rather than on what your actual responsibilities are. Performance reviews are often several months later than actual anniversary and capped at 2% regardless of exceptional or extra efforts. Health insurance is the most expensive to employees they could find, but cheapest to the company, and weekly premiums increase by 10% annually while salary only increases by 2% when raises aren't being frozen due to allegedly slow or unprofitable seasons. Opportunities for advancement within company kept hidden between departments with hedonism and favoritism being the standard of the day. Management also actively prevents advancement or lateral movement in order to prevent having to worry about refilling vacant key positions after a subject matter expert has left it. Departmental favoritism exists in the corporate structure with more attention and money being sent to departments that do not make any money for the company rather than reinvested into operational departments that do. Promotions from within to key positions based upon popularity rather than qualifications or training and hiring from outside the industry results in unskilled and clueless managers unwilling and unable to offer guidance or support for the people in their departments. Upper management also constantly eliminating "unnecessary" staff from locations through position elimination and consolidation below operational minimums yet still expect same level of output and production.

I worked at Star Gas Partners for more than a year

    Pros

You get a paycheck. Unfortunately nothing more to say. You get benefits, insurance. Some representatives try to do their best. You get some commission for selling service agreements.

    Cons

You HAVE to work at least 3 weekends on top of your regular hours. Very tense environment. Racism is very bad. They don’t care about their customers when they ran them out of oil with no heat, no hot water is not an emergency.
