I worked at StarKist full-time for less than a year

      Pros

      They pay you on time.

      Cons

      1. StarKist is owned by DongWon, a Korean company. They force their culture in the US employees and there is no room for argument or negotiation. I've seen what seem like Korean interns in the US corporate HQ. There was an intern that was literally shadowing a Sr. Manager (Korean as well). The shadow-intern was more like a servant to the Sr. Manager to the point of holding the umbrella for the older person while getting...

        Approves of CEO

I worked at StarKist full-time for more than 3 years

        Pros

Smart, hard-working team. Engaged CEO who makes an effort to get to know everyone in the company. Integrated company so even at an entry-level position you will be in meetings and have access to senior leadership.

        Cons

Advancement is largely based on time at company and loyalty rather than merit. Career advancement feels limited unless you will be with the company 5+ years. Employees are expected to assume more responsibilites than title implies (which can be good and bad). Strict 8-5 hours- remote or flex work is not an option.

        Advice to Management

Create a leadership or talent development track so that entry-level employees feel like there is room to grow within the company. Work with managers on how to be good mentors and bring out the best in their team.

I worked at StarKist full-time for more than 3 years

        Pros

Limited to none. Rank and File are good people trying to do a good job in a very toxic horrible work environment created by senior leadership on site and Korean based ownership.

        Cons

Korean leadership that hates Americans and is non supportive, back stabbing. Very negative threatening environment. Factory worker mentality towards professional staff, cannot leave early, can't take early lunch to avoid crowds, can't work from home on occasion, etc despite working regular 9-10 hour days.

        Advice to Management

Learn basic motivational and leadership skills. Understand US market and US personnel.

        Cons

Have to deal with unreasonable protesters who are angry at corporations without understanding the facts.

        Advice to Management
