I have been working at Starcom USA full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401K, legal assistance, travel assistance, tuition reimbursement program; Great voluntary benefits including auto, renter's, and pet insurance; Great perks including a whole lot of paid holidays, paid flex days, generous paid vacation, free breakfast everyday, free beverages, an iPhone 7 or Galaxy S7, discounted gym membership, on site bar with drink specials; Great coworkers; Basically too many great things to name

    Cons

It's a large company so everyone can have a different experience depending on what team you're on, so some people can get overworked while others can have a more laid back role yet still get paid the same

I have been working at Starcom USA full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The employees are all very bright and (most) are passionate about what he or she does. The people who have been there for a longer period of time love their jobs. You get good training from your supervisors (this depends on how organized your account is), so you learn quickly even if you have little to no experience in the industry. Also, the casual dress code, free food all the time, and the decent holiday and flex days off are nice benefits. Great social and team events as well.

    Cons

Super long work hours for pretty low salary (which is why the employee turnover is constant and many teams are understaffed), thus a pretty bad work/life balance. This job is very mentally and physically draining if you're not passionate about it or advertising in general. Additionally, it's hard being a POC in digital media as you are often targeting other communities of color for their "purchasing power," because you know, POC are monolithic audiences and all think the same (this is an industry-wide issue).

    Advice to Management

Better pay for associate and other entry-level positions, but apparently people have been asking this for years. Seriously though, there are too many associates working like 10+ hours a day with no overtime.

I have been working at Starcom USA as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

    - good benefits, extended to contractors as a FTE has (as much as possible)
    - great time off. 10 for contractors, 19 for FTE. and the holiday schedule is great
    - I haven't experienced workplace politics and people are fun / friendly
    - many women in leadership and diverse workforce
    - flexible to work from home when you need to
    - they like to do a contract-to-hire in one year for most everyone.

    Cons

    - pay is a little below what I want, but with good work they have recognized I have received two salary raises within a year
    - it's an agency. clients can be fussy. but the people you work with make it worth it

I have been working at Starcom USA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great culture, great work perks, great people. Best in class training. Beer taps open at 4PM on Thursday and friday for all employees to enjoy.

    Cons

Don't expect a raise or a promotion. Even if you are the best employee, you will be given the run around for at least a few months before you are even put into a position to get a promotion. That is if you are lucky. Was given great reviews 2 years running and when pressed multiple times, was given a minimal raise.

    Expect to work long hours.

    Advice to Management

Do what you can go keep your good employees. Other agencies are taking your talent because of the unwillingness to promote from within and give raises.

Learned a lot here and have to thank Starcom for kicking off my career in ad operations. Great work environment and made many lasting friendships. Free reign to get involved in different projects.

    Cons

Continuously lied to about promotions/being brought on full time

    Pros

I've been here for over two years and while the base pay is terrible and you will work draining hours, this is an amazing way to break into the industry. Depending on the client team, you will be immersed into the media world and the ability to form long lasting friendships internally, and with partners externally.

    Cons

The burn out needs to be resolved. Too many people work brutal hours, and end up moving on to a competitor for an increase in pay.

    Advice to Management

Value your top performing employees, regardless of their level. Turnover is through the roof, especially for associates starting on TOPS as they receive little to no client facing experience. This strictly operational role can be gruesome and mindless.

I have been working at Starcom USA full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people, great clients, great culture. Benefits and perks are top notch with tons of paid time off and generous holiday schedule.

    Cons

Pay sucks and is usually below market average. I think they believe your total package including the cache of putting Starcom on your resume counts for more than it does.

    Advice to Management

Pay your people fairly so you don't lose top talent to the competition. And don't force people to leave, just to come back for more money.

I have been working at Starcom USA full-time

    Pros

Fantastic paid time off and holiday schedule. Relaxed environment with fun people (if you are on the right team). Recent pay increases are giving hope to lower/mid-level employees.

    Cons

The AEP program that was put in place a couple years ago removes the personalization of the rotation / promotion process - its more about data and check lists than the person. Positions sit open despite heavy work loads, teams are unsupported on the associate level because so many associates leave after 9 mos - 1 year to get paid more elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

Think about the cost of living in Chicago, reflect on the $$s the Associates make, now do math. Does that work?
