    Pros

Superior Resources and Talent. Professional and Optimistic environment. Job expectations are made extremely clear by management allowing employees to excel. Continous Learning. programs for employees (at all levels). Excellant benefit packages (e.g. medical, dental, etc). Truely superior agency. There are many social groups within Starcom that employees can participate in (e.g. book club, diversity groups, etc). We have a corporate gym on site which is excellant (trainers and everything!).

    Cons

Employee compensation is not as competitive as OMD or MindShare in Chicago (other large media only agencies). Starcom argues that salaries are not as competitive because they invest a significant amount of money in Resources (e.g. Research, Information Sharing, Training Courses, etc). Our resouces do make our jobs easier, but I do not agree that we are compensated enough for all that we do and the hours that are put in.

    Advice to Management

    Improve salary compensation packages

    Pros

    Large company
    Systematic procedure of evaluation
Opportunity to shadow other individuals in the company
Opportunity to meet other like-minded, passionate interns

    Cons

Such a large company makes understanding how departments communicate with one another difficult.
This is not the place for you if you are not able to "wing it" and try to figure out a lot on your own based on the main portal the company gives you access to online.
Your "recommendation for hire" post-internship only lasts for 1 year; hence, if you're banking on Starcom, it might be more worth your effort to try your junior summer.

    Advice to Management

The coordination of working with interns and simultaneously trying to take on an entry-level position I think was too much. Better communication needs to be made between the departments and the intern committee in order to prevent overworked interns.

    Pros

They take training seriously and want to make sure you succeed. They move very quickly, intelligently and are a fast-paced company. They use a 360-holistic review process.

    Cons

They are a fast-paced company; if you are used to a more leisure work environment this is not for you. Though they try for work-life balance, it seems a difficult thing to achieve there.

    Advice to Management

Distribute work more equitably; more people to handle the work-loads.

    Pros

Vacation days, flex days and 25 paid holidays are a great perk. There is a general timeline of when you will be promoted and it seems like most managers stick to it and are conscientious of your time and effort you put into each position you hold. Starcom has many major-brand clients (ie Kellogg's, Burger King, Allstate, Nintendo, Blackberry, etc) which provides a great experience and is a great resume builder.

    Cons

starting salaries are a little on the low side

  8. "Great opportunity for growth within company."

    Opportunities for career advancement.
A lot of women hold upper-level management positions.
    Easy to transfer locations.
    Casual dress code.

    Cons

Salary is very low for entry-level positions.
Very limited amount of paid-time off.
Employees frequently work 50 hours/week and sometimes more.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing! Great company to work for. I recommend increasing the starting salary of all employees at Starcom.
