I have been working at Starcom Worldwide full-time

    Pros

Smart people, a relaxed environment and great perks

    Cons

Relatively low pay, promotion process is long and very structured. During my last promotion I asked for a small incremental raise above the base salary. I was told this wouldn't be a problem. When the promotion finally occured no additional raise was given. When I confronted management nothing was done to remedy the situation. It's not that anyone has bad intent, it's just difficult to change such a large companies processes.

    Advice to Management

I know there are many associates at Starcom but there needs to be better ability for top performers to move up more quickly or at least receive performance based raises. Overall working at Starcom has been great. But the slow turning wheel makes it difficult to see a long term career here.

I worked at Starcom Worldwide full-time

    Pros

Young, fast-paced, always learning with a vast amount of resources and contacts at your fingertips

    Cons

Overworked, underpaid, non-diverse, limited amounts of creative outlets within the hierarchies of creative partners

    Advice to Management

Improve the diversity and strength of the talent pool by offering more ways to attract young, hungry graduates who probably have debt to pay off by offering debt relief matching.

I worked at Starcom Worldwide full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Free food (snacks, cereal, and coffee).
    - Some teams are really awesome and are great to work.
    - Lots of opportunity to move around.

    Cons

    - Sometimes there is too much movement. Once your getting the hang of things the switch up your position
    - Management can be completely absent which can make work very frustrating. My last manager was clueless of what was happening and constantly skipped meetings to go out with friends.
    - Teams can be so cliquey that it reminds you of high school.
    - If your on the wrong team you can kiss a normal 9-5 day good bye. Some people had to routinely work until 6 or 7 every single night.

    Advice to Management

If an employee makes mistakes ask them if have been trained on preventing that mistake and be specific on what the mistake is. Try to take some work off the people that consistently work past 5 as they tend to get burnt out. Also it sucks being swamped in work on 3 different accounts when other people who have 1 account spend all day on facebook and talking to other employees.

I worked at Starcom Worldwide full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great fun work, opportunity to advance, good client base, great management, company treated you like an adult, good benefits, work with quality people

    Cons

Long long hours. Never had ups and downs, workload always heavy. Hard to have flexible schedule or remote work. Since everyone was there at night it made it easy to work long days. Hard job with a family.
