I have been working at Starcom Worldwide full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You're fully immersed into Media and learn so much about the landscape. Easy to meet people, build relationships and connect with coworkers since the work between teams is so intertwined. An investment role is what you want if you want to be invited to happy hours, after work events, soulcycle, etc. Not a whole lot of opportunity to meet with vendors on a Strategy role.

    Cons

Depending on the role, long hours. Work varies so much between teams. The quality of management is not consistent. There will be amazing Directors and ADs and you will love your job, but come your next rotation you can be placed on another team with a difficult manager that may make you question your career. I suppose a pro to this is that you get to learn how to adapt to different management styles. Plus you will learn what NOT to do when/if you become a manager.

    Advice to Management

Many in management have a "my way or the highway" mentality. There are plenty of ways to approach/solve issues in Media. Be open to your team's thoughts, opinions and ways of working. Trust that they have the knowledge and skills that have gotten them to where they are now. Instill confidence in your employees, we want to show you that we are capable of so much more.

I have been working at Starcom Worldwide full-time

    Pros

Nice people and convenient. Learned a lot from my team.

    Cons

Short staffed, long hours, lunch breaks looked down upon, LA branch leaves at 6 while all other branches leave at 5.

  8. "Learned a lot, but frustrating promotion process"

I have been working at Starcom Worldwide full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-Amazing resources and talented people to teach you about media
-A lot of vacation time (flex days) to help manage work/life balance issues
    -Young and lively atmosphere

    Cons

-Promotion process is frustrating. Based solely on the amount of time at the company and not about talent.
    -No room to negotiate salary.
-Large disparity in work load between teams and placement into those teams is out of your control.

I have been working at Starcom Worldwide full-time

    Pros

Great location, beautiful office , the newest technologies and trends

    Cons

Terrible training. They expect you to know things right away. They show you some complicated programs and procures once, after few weeks they want you to repeat them without asking any questions. Competitive environment where people are not there to help you, but rather put you down. You want to work in media? You will actually end up working like a computer science analysts , using so many computer software programs and extracting data in the Excel all day long!

    Advice to Management

Train people properly! Design better program. Give them time to learn! Train them with different people. Without a good training don't expect that things will be done...

I have been working at Starcom Worldwide full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Free food/coffee weekly
    Friendly, welcoming atmosphere

    Cons

Extremely difficult to get promoted or rotate to a new area. I was told that "it's not your turn" to rotate, even though I was requested by other teams I work with to come be on their teams. Promotion is based more on who started at the company first rather than performance. Provides no motivation to even try to work hard.

No choice of what team/area you start on. I had no idea what I would be doing until the day I started.

    Advice to Management

Look at performance more than tenure.
