    Pros

The people are the asset, I've truly enjoyed working with the people there. There are a few good regional support individual that you can learn from.

    Cons

Good to great was short lived as they lost many good people. Lack of strategy, weak leader and business leaders. Many are there because they can't leave, rather disappointing

    Pros

Recruits really great people that make you enjoy coming to work and will learn if you put in the time

    Cons

Once remote working started during COVID, role autonomy greatly decreased. Dissatisfaction grew and many teams thinned when they felt they were being heard by upper management.

    Decent company (if you're healthy)

May 24, 2021 - Senior Media Associate in Chicago, IL

    Pros

Some genuinely great people to work with and rotation program should give a lot of insight into different industries/facets of media

    Cons

This company is every chronically ill's person horror story. I was newly diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and the instant I told my AD, suddenly my director knew and my director went on to tell multiple people (other directors and higher). If this sounds illegal, that's because it is. I had no control over my narrative anymore. And, despite receiving good performance reviews, I was passed up for promotion because some accounts were deemed "too stressful for my condition." My needs were constantly met with suspicion and doubt. Due to severe pain and fatigue, there were days I needed to take off or simply just work from home to try to be more comfortable. This was almost always met with derision and guilting. I'd open my email to find angry, condescending emails despite having gotten my work done. I was told by my team's leader to connect HR with my doctor to bolster credibility, which I did, hoping that would put an end to the skepticism (it didn't). Then, I found out I was constantly being badmouthed to my team by that same leader, which felt inappropriate considering we were a small team, she was many levels above me and I was only an associate. A director who can't refrain from doing damage to the fabric of a team that had formerly been a cohesive, friendly unit is not one who should be in a leadership role. Trying to get a formal, flexible work arrangement (1 day working from home, didn't think that was too much to ask) was a nightmare. While the HR person I met with was nice and as understanding as he could be, the process was slow, there was a lot of red tape and back and forth, and I couldn't quite seem to find the "flexibility" part in this flexible work arrangement. My disease changes from hour to hour, so I have no idea how picking a set day of the week to WFH was supposed to solve the problem. After months of back and forth and lots of paperwork, the whole thing never even came to fruition. Eventually, the stress of trying to navigate the hostility I was facing while also grappling with the very visceral reality of a life-changing diagnosis got to me and I left the company. It had become very clear to me that the company views its people as employees first, human beings second. In their eyes, I was no longer the hardworking employee doing work to make them and my clients proud; I had become a burden. Long story short, this company has a very long way to go in terms of educating its employees, especially those in leadership roles, on working with chronically ill individuals. What started off as a welcoming family and beautiful time ended with one of the most dehumanizing series of experiences I have encountered. If you're ill, run (don't walk) in the opposite direction.

Where the great minds in media are

Jan 10, 2013 - Media Planner in Makati City
    Recommend

    Pros

Starcom is a great company obviously because they are the number 1 media agency in the Philippines. The on the job training is great because the people there are the cream of the crop. You will surely learn a lot. Standards are very high. You will be the person you can be because the people there are very smart, talented and highly competitive.

    Cons

Of course since Starcom Philippines is the top agency and has most of the premium clients, you can expect work is heavy and difficult. You are really pushed to your limits and people there often go overtime It is highly stressful in that context. But of course, you can expect that in the top companies.

The people are great as is the training you receive when you first get hired. No day is like the last and the constant change keeps us on our feet. Vendor community respects the work coming out of Starcom

    Cons

The promotion system is a bit antiquated and does not always go to who deserves it most. Also, the salary is not competitive.
