I worked at Starkey Hearing Technologies full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Nice campus with average benefits

    Cons

Starkey used to be all about 'innovation' and cutting-edge technology. This strategy served them well for many years as they rose from small midwest hearing aid company to global hearing health competitor. The company maintained a Technology R&D group that fostered this philosophy and kept Starkey's products on industry forefront in terms of features and footprint. This group had many exceptionally talented engineers and scientists. This has all eroded away over the last two years. The new President and upper executive management dismantled the Technology R&D group and have effectively replaced 'innovation' as primary core value with "cost cutting". They believe they can stay competitive by simply cutting R&D / operations costs. A sure sign of a death spiral.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of much mid-management driftwood in new product development and operations. The majority of these individuals lack any technical vision and operate primarily to keep your their own jobs.

"Always cutting corners. Not very much passion from management especially toward productions point of view. Numbers #1."

I worked at Starkey Hearing Technologies (More than 10 years)

    Pros

PTO up to 5 weeks, 401k, health insurance, basic eye care, chiropractor.

    Cons

Poor wages for production. You may get 2-3 % but not always, this includes cost of living. If their successes are based with how the raises are rated, they're in deep trouble.
Want you seen but not heard from.
Plenty of management with poor skills. Need to have compassion and willing to work with the people. Need to learn to work with people and be more understanding. Be more helpful and not making people feel poorly about themselves.
Trust...... employees are leery about trusting. They've been burned by broken promises. More and more work is being sent out to Mexico and China, International orders with downsizing in a lot of areas.
Not sure new President of company was a positive. Have seen him in his TRUE colors.

    Advice to Management

Upper management needs to keep in mind that there are production workers who really struggle to survive on their wages.
Reviews are to include cost of living, but at 2- 3% there's no way. It's hard to make ends meet. Respect and you shall be respected.

I worked at Starkey Hearing Technologies full-time

    Pros

good insurance benefits, fellow employees, lots of talented people

    Cons

No advancement without having an "in" with someone. Insurance is good, but every year it gets more expensive. This year, the deductible doubled. No training. If you're to learn anything new, it's done on your own time.

Starkey expects you to work any day, all day, all night, for nothing. There is never a reward for working double shifts at the expense of your own family and life for months on end. No recognition, no bonus, nothing. Starkey calls employees "family", but the only time they act like family is when they want something. Bill Austin is showered with praise. He pats himself on the back on a regular basis. Very seldom do you hear him giving praise to anyone else.

Upper management exists in an entitled bubble. Anyone outside that bubble is not respected. The new President struts around like a peacock and with an ontourage. His mom, the CEO's wife, is now trying to get the CEO the Nobel Peace Prize. I'm pretty sure she hasn't read the requirements for that award. CEO is as eligible for that as Mickey Mouse.

    Advice to Management

    Get over yourself.
