I have been working at Starr Companies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

invested in training younger people, wealth of knowledge from ex-AIG employees. Fabulous benefits.

    Cons

Very disorganized, must be able to deal with this and adapt.

    Advice to Management

As we grow, don't let the company become silo-ed as it was at AIG.

I have been working at Starr Companies full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

A growing company with what seems like great potential for advancement. The office I'm reviewing is clean, safe, has friendly co-workers/staff. In my position, I'm not "mirco-managed" but allowed to work on my own, at my own pace with answers to any questions or assistance from any of my co-workers. Seems too good to be true most days. Benefits are plentiful as is the retirement package(rare with many companies these days).

    Cons

Still too much paper in our business so my only con is that we're not paperfree, yet.

    Advice to Management

Keep recognizing individuals for what they bring to the table; we have so much talent and knowledge!

I have been working at Starr Companies full-time

    Pros

Lots of smart people to learn from. They seem willing to invest in their employees to help them move up the ladder fairly quick.

    Cons

Still pretty old school. Suit and tie every day. You must pick things up fast or you will be left in the dust.

    Advice to Management

Make sure that the new employees are properly trained. Invest in them and they will perform for you. Lose the old school ways and incentivize your employees.

    - Fast growing company
    - Opportunity to take on lots of responsibility if you are up for the challenge
    - Exposure to senior management

    Cons

    - Starr's culture needs serious improvement so that more employees are excited about their work. I believe this will ultimately benefit the company in the long term and help to retain talent.

I have been working at Starr Companies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They take care of people who take care of them. Not a lot of hand holding when it comes to training, so if you can prove you have what it takes to figure it out on your own, you're golden

    Cons

If you need training wheels, not the place for you

Rigid day to day - business dress in NYC office - could be more flexible

    Advice to Management

Get a work from home policy in place
