    Pros

They provide individual and group supervision, and good benefits.

    Cons

There has been a consistent and historical issue with the communication styles between management and employees. The expectations are high and unreaslistic to live a balanced life. Stars does not take self-care seriously, and will work you until your last drop.

    Advice to Management

Improve communication and positive reinforcement to boost moral and a positive energy. I feel it would be helpful to have upper management make themselves present in team meetings to get non-judgmental feedback, and will not reprimand employees that voice their concerns and needs. It is important to help your employees feel heard and safe to share their needs and honest thoughts.

    Stars Behavioral Health Group Response

One of the benefits employees say they most appreciate about our company is that there is a lot of room for growth. The size of the company with more than 30 programs in six California counties (soon growing to nine) means there is a good path for upward mobility. The company also ...

I worked at Stars Behavioral Health Group for more than a year

    Pros

This agency has good benefits. The schedule to see patients is flexible and you can do the DMH paperwork at your home with the laptop that they provide to you. You get a lot of training.

    Cons

The agency has been restructuring areas and programs for a long time and your teams, patients, and supervisors change constantly. Upper management has good intentions, but fails to see the needs of the employees. Many emplooyees quit and you are given double the number of patients that you should have to cover up for them. The paperwork (DMH) takes over your life. The work is intense (since involves all DCFS/probation...

    Advice to Management

Upper management has good intentions, but they don't care about burning out the teams when they are low in employees. They are focused in productivity and not in quality of care.

SBHG has continuously grown to serve more clients and families throughout the company’s 28-year history. This former employee’s experience seems to have been impacted by a period of change that has taken place recently at this particular program. Regrettably, sometimes our managers ...

Good supervisors. They are supportive and help you grow as a therapist. It's a good amount of work and not too overwhelming. Relaxed and accepting atmosphere. Good benefits. Mileage reimbursement.

    Cons

Stay aways from drama and office politics. Pay could be better.

I worked at Stars Behavioral Health Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good benefits, and decent pay for the area.

    Cons

Although the population you serve has a 50% no-show rate, the company will harass you to meet productivity standards and make you feel as though any other clinical skills you may have are meaningless compared to the numbers you produce. They will encourage you to get, "creative" in reaching those numbers, without regard to the confidentiality of the client. The employees that do get "creative" get applauded. They will...
