I worked at Starwood Hotels & Resorts part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The hotel was willing to set my schedule around my school hours. Which allowed me to have no conflicts with graduating on time.

    Cons

Hotel made guest pay for things like internet access which at other hotels were complimentary; this frustration would often cause for guests to call and complain.

    Advice to Management

Policies were counterproductive and made the job more difficult than it needed to be. Some management reconstruction needs to happen.

Current Employee - Shift Supervisor in Houston, TX
Current Employee - Shift Supervisor in Houston, TX

I have been working at Starwood Hotels & Resorts full-time

    Pros

Discounts on hotels across the US. If you work at a St. Regis property, you get 5 free nights at any St. Regis in America each calendar year...which is easily at least a $2,000 in value. There are a lot of opportunities to move into upper management and transfer to different departments.

    Cons

schedule is bad. if you work in food and bev, you have to work every single holiday. you typically have to work weekends too. they will use you as much as they can and pay you as little as they can get away with.

    Pros

Great Management- really cared about the employees

    Cons

Lack of organizations - needed more of a challenge, but glad i was given a little project to do as well.

    Advice to Management

A 2-week internship doesn't do much to teach us if it is not better organized (too general)

  10. "Bartender Jobs At Starwood Hotels and Resorts (Westin Oaks, Houston)"

    Pros

    Great Health Benefits
    Good Retirement Plans
    PTO Vacation
    Flexible Work Hours
Excellent place to work for college students

    Cons

    Horrible clientele
Aging Bar staff makes it highly difficult to remain competitive in the industry
There seems to be an army of Managers, however, it is highly unlikely they'll be available when actually needed in a busy shift. There is no Bar Manager position
Work is seasonal, on "regular" shifts there is not much money to be made

    Advice to Management

There needs to be a Bar Manager position. Someone that understands bar promotions and bar culture.
