I have been working at State Bank of India for more than a year

    Pros

Good pay if you are a fresher

    Cons

They never treat you like MBA grads, they treat you like a clerical staff. And most of the officers would be jealous of our pay.

    Advice to Management

Please dont hire any management trainees from a reputed institution if you don't know what work to assign them. If you have hired them for a specified task please inform it to the people who they are gonna report to. Most of the MTs end up being a clerical staff. its really disheartening after doing an MBA but at the end take print outs

I have been working at State Bank of India for more than 3 years

    Pros

Decent Work life balance compared to private sector banks in mumbai.

    Cons

Variable pay which forms 30% of compensation is at the mercy of whims of mr alwar kannan the cgm and that too with a delay of 2-3 months . You can also get 0% despite slogging for 6 months - 1 year.

    Advice to Management

You hire contractual employees from top b schools, at least treat them fairly. create an internal channel (like trainee officers track) to absorb them as regular officers.

    Pros

Work life balance well maintained and it is amazing how they balance a huge organisation. Good place to understand and learn the ABC of implementing management principles. Although change is resistant but still they try to accommodate things to the best of their concern.

    Cons

No clarity in requirements. Highly bureaucratic organisation with too much dependency on the hierarchy. Need to harness the skilled workforce properly.

    Advice to Management

    Streamline and strengthen processes
