Continue to treat employees well, keep finding unique ways to reach the younger generation and to stay ahead of competition.

I worked at State Farm as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Thoroughly enjoyed my time at State Farm. Great opportunities available in Systems (expanding to 2 hubs), Innovation, Ad Services and other departments. State Farm really does care about work/life balance and takes time to develop its employees. I knew of several coworkers who had moved around 5+ times for different positions, cities, etc.

    Cons

Bloomington, IL... If you're extremely family-focused, it can be great. However, the size of the town in combination with the fact that most people you see out at night also work at State Farm is extremely tough. State Farm is a scary commitment for a new grad.

    Advice to Management

If possible, try to offer more flexible opportunities location-wise (beyond Systems). Young talent can be very attracted to the company, but less-so to Bloomington, IL. The people who commit full-time out of school seem to be of the same mindset, which can affect diversity.

I worked at State Farm (Less than a year)

    Pros

The agent I worked for was very flexible and willing to work with me as I learned throughout the summer.

    Cons

The position wasn't really for me - I learned so much and definitely acquired some new skills but I really didn't enjoy the work that much

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing! I really enjoyed working there - everyone is so nice.

I worked at State Farm as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

State Farm provides a great work life balance mixed with great benefits to supplement this. The community around State Farm is very family friendly. Great culture and values.

    Cons

Can be somewhat of a limitation in career advancement and their is little room for placement in other cities besides Bloomington-Normal as a manager.

    Advice to Management

Motivate employees better. Many employees are complacent with just doing enough work to get by. New "excellence" programs get in the way of people doing work efficiently.
