I have been working at State Farm part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Competitive pay, flexible hours, lots of opportunity. The atmosphere and people I work with are great. Everyone makes everything as fun as possible even when learning insurance and it can be boring.

    Cons

Micro-management of timing of breaks, lunches, in times, out times. Complicated process of doing things like managing your schedule and planning time off. Some of its complicated and some is made easy. Just depends.

    Advice to Management

Adherence is a bit hard to adhere to while taking calls in the sales position.

I worked at State Farm full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Fantastic Training, Supportive of destination pursuit, Mentor and monthly training program participation encouraged, positive management team, flexible schedule choices

    Cons

call center environment can get overwhelming, Would like to have seen more attention given by Work Force Management to ensure all associates were given task time away from phones on an equal basis instead of a random approach. I do believe this is of the same importance to customers as employees. All customers deserve to speak with an employee that is at their best, not mind-numb from 8 hours of answering calls.
Little to no promotion opportunities in PNW area

    Advice to Management

I love the huddles, please keep this practice. I rarely felt lost even with all the changes. I had 5 different fantastic managers and 3 different section managers in my 2 and half years with Express. All brought enthusiasm and encouragement for the job we did in Express. My only advice would be to revisit the schedules. WFM is certainly capable of committing to a schedule that allows for all employees to catch a breath and exit the call queue for task work. I saw more good employees shut down on SF after an 8-10 hour day on the phones than any stress from increased metrics. Happy employees = Great customer experiences!

I have been working at State Farm full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

After working for four different companies, my experience at State Farm has been the best. I LIKED many of the companies, people, and conditions I worked for, however State Farm surpasses them all.

-Excellent benefits program. From bonus, pension, medical, dental, to free health programs, community events, etc etc. I always joke with my husband about all the freebies I get. The company is very generous and caring with their employees. You're not just a number, you are a person.
-Great culture and work environment. There are pretty clear job roles and expectations so you never feel like you're in the dark. As well, everyone is very friendly and amiable. People truly care. I feel uplifted after a day at work, rather than drained or stressed.
-Pay I would say is very fair. Especially for state-specifics. Coming from CA where I'm used to different labor laws and salary, working for State Farm was the best option by far!
-Equal opportunity employer. One of my favorite things about State Farm is the diversity and inclusion. You see so many types of people and they are not elitist or discriminatory.

I would definitely recommend State Farm and actively encourage others to apply! Excellent company. I hope to stay with them many, many years.

    Cons

Employment here is best for people who like structure and guidelines, compared to those who prefer ambiguity and a lax environment. While State Farm is very accommodating, those who like structure will do best.

    Cons
