I worked at State Farm as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

I helped the State Farm agent with upgrading the computer based database to online database ABS. The work environment was good and the people were nice.

    Cons

When I had to cold call customers to update and verify their information, they would be rude or sometimes they believed that I am fake calling to get their personal information.

I worked at State Farm part-time

    Pros

Fun, interesting place to work with a lot of flexibility and understanding for students.

    Cons

Sometimes project teams can get a little bloated, but that helps keep things flexible during the school year, so it is understandable

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work, you've created an interesting and fun place to work for a variety of students

I worked at State Farm full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Excellent sales training, great pay during internship process

    Cons

Terrible leadership and full of Kool-Aid...if you are unable to sell insurance making $60k+/year during the internship process, how do you expect somebody making $10/hour to sell something?

Most agents go into $50-$75k debt during their first year, and it takes 3+ years to begin making any $. Look elsewhere and do not buy into their lies

    Advice to Management

Be honest with recruits, increase commission and make sales goals more realistic. Stop over saturating markets with agents.

I worked at State Farm as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The environment is relaxed. Nothing is really rushed unless you really fall behind on work. The job also gives you a lot of free time to do your own hobbies or see your family. During the internship I learned a lot and they made if specifically flexible so that you can move at your own pace to maximize learning.
They also started building more "modern" break areas that are actually quite relaxing to work in.

    Cons

At times it gets TOO relaxed. If it's a Friday, good luck getting anybody to do work. Though this applies to other companies as well.
Some managers come from the wrong places. State Farm sometimes places Sales managers in technical areas which ends up with sticky situations. Personally, I had no problem with my manager, but I have heard horror stories.

    Advice to Management

Keep pushing to make your employees happy and push your company image because some employees don't even like State Farm.

    Pros

Very personal company that makes the effort to truly help people where they are at.

    Cons
